Welcolme to my middle school, François Rabelais
Our middle school is located in
L'Escarene, next to Nice, in the South
East of France.
This is our principal, Mr Barberi. These are the principal and deputy principal who is
named Mme Bartoletti.
There are 395 students from 10 to 15 years old.
This is the corridor to go to the schoolyard.
This is the library where there are books and
computers.
Here, this is the gymnasium.
There is also a cafeteria. Like American
students, we have a different teacher and a different classroom for
each subject.
We study : French, Math,
History, English, Latin,
Italian or Spanish, Art, PE...
French students start school in September whereas American students start in
August. We have two weeks holiday for the All Saints Day, the 1st
November.
We have also two weeks for Christmas and the New Year !
In addition, we have two weeks holiday in February,
during which we can go skiing !! And two weeks for
Easter like you.
American students take a yellow bus to school and so do us. Some of us go
to school by bus and some by car. We can't
drive before the age of 18 in France.
We start at 8. For example we have
French class at 8 on Friday. And we
finish at 4.30 p.m.
Lunch break is at noon : some
of us have lunch at the
school cafeteriawhereas others
go home for lunch. Lunch break is 1.5 hour long.
In our middle school we can practice rock-
climbing, basketball, volleyball...
There are 4 clubs in our school. We can join the poetry club, the school's online
newspaper club, the chess club, the cinema club... We can also join the school choir.
At the end of the freshman we have to take an examination in a range of subjects such as French, Math, History, English or Italian or
Spanish, and Art History. If you pass this final examination, you get a
diploma called «Brevet».
Unlike American students, we don't
have a special party to celebrate the end of middle
school.
Goodbye !
