1. RE-ENACTORS WANTED A local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter is looking for volunteers for the Wilkes Monument rededication ceremony July 5 to re-enact, in 1841 period costumes, Lt. 9. The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID) is seeking qualified applicants to become criminal investigators. To qualify, an applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, at least 21 years old, an E-4 or E-5 , with at least two years -- but not more than 10 years -- of time in service. Enrollees will complete 36 months of service obligation upon completion of the Apprentice Special Agent Course. MADIGAN NEWS

1. Holiday Notes: As we approach the 4th of July we will try to keep you up to date on clinics that will close to recognize the holiday. The Family Medicine Clinic will be open on July 1 at 7:30 a.m. and will have same day appointments available. They will not be open for the regularly schedule 6:30 a.m. Active-Duty sick call.

2. MADIGAN NEEDS YOUR HELP! - Over 5000 appointments were no shows last month. That means 1) If you were trying to make an appointment and couldn’t your were frustrated 2) 5000 appointment slots went unfilled 3) Practitioners who would have been seeing patients had to be paid even though they were not seeing patients. Please be kind and cancel your appointment if you are not going to make it, either online or by calling appointment line !!!

3. MEDICAL APPOINTMENT LINE HOURS CHANGE: The medical appointment line for Madigan Healthcare System has recently extended its hours and added hours on the weekends. Beneficiaries of Madigan Healthcare System and its outlying clinics (Nisqually, Okubo, McChord, and Puyallup) can now make their appointment by calling 1-800-404-4506 between 0600 and 2000 hours Monday through Friday. The appointment line can also be reached between 0700 and 1530 on Saturday and Sunday. They are closed on Federal Holidays.

CLEANING FOR A REASON http://www.cleaningforareason.org/ourprocess.html If you know any woman currently undergoing cancer treatment for ANY type of cancer, please pass the word that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - once per month for four months while she is in treatment. All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating

maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service. This organization serves the entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help these women.

Gates and roadwork progress on JBLM

1. There will be a new street light and pedestrian crossing installed through July 9 at the intersection of 41st Division Drive and Stryker Avenue. Stryker Avenue will be closed from 41st Division Drive to just short of 14th Street. Motorists are advised to get on Stryker Avenue from 41st Street heading south, take a left on Mann Street and another left on 14th Street. Detours will be in place to direct traffic.

2. Another section of 41st Division Drive will be closed from July 5 to 22 for road work between Ohio/Colorado avenues and Nevada/Tacoma avenues. Closure and detours will be effective from 6 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. during site working hours. Traffic to and from the residential area west of the intersection of 41st Division Drive and Ohio Avenue will not be affected. Traffic to and from the NCO facility on 41st Division Drive will use the NCO access road to enter and exit the facility. Traffic to and from businesses in the adjacent area will enter and exit via Colorado Avenue.

3. A repaving and widening project along three-fourths mile of Blaine Avenue between 5th Street and Eagle Circle will begin with completion estimated Sept. 2. Work hours will be between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

Division Drive) will require the section of roadway from STA 0+00 to STA 42+00 to be closed and traffic rerouted via detour. Traffic entering from the East Gate will be directed to follow East Gate Road to 2nd Division Drive. A right turn on 2nd Division Drive will lead traffic to a right turn onto the paved combat trail that constitutes the detour route and will allow access to 4th Division Drive. Traffic traveling south on 4th Division Drive will use the same route in the opposite direction.

5. The D Street Gate on JBLM Lewis North: The next East Drive project plans repairs starting at the end of the D-Street widening to DuPont/Steilacoom Road requiring road closure in July.

6. Drivers using Jackson Avenue near Madigan Army Medical Center should expect delays for a few months as contractors begin repairing a one-mile stretch of road from the barricades near the Madigan Gate to Transmission Line Road. The project is scheduled for completion in August.
