A Congregation of the United Church of Christ

A “God is Still Speaking” Church

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.

O God, as You seek out those who are lost and lonely, find us. As we live in Your loving presence, lead us to ultimate joy and freedom. May this

good news stir our great desire to seek You and Your ways. Amen.

The Church Gathers to Worship God

Welcome and Announcements

Prelude (Silent preparation for worship begins with the appreciation of this music offering)

Call to Worship One: When we find ourselves surrounded by supportive relationships or when we feel lost and alone, unsure of the way forward: All: love is never far away. One: When our faith is rock solid and we are filled with wisdom, or when we are mired in doubt and we just don’t know: All: love is never far away. One: All that we are – every circumstance and feeling – is welcomed by the Spirit into the heart of worship: All: love is never far away.

Opening Prayer “The world will give you that once a while, a brief time out; the boxing bell rings and you go to your corner, where somebody dabs mercy on your beat-up life.” (From The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd)

Bring to mind the circumstances and people in need of a healing touch. As they come into consciousness, know they are held by God and release them into the care of merciful love.

Locate your own state of mind. How are you feeling within yourself right now? How does it go with your soul? Become aware of your inner being and know you are also held in the care of merciful love.

We welcome you, Spirit of Mercy, into the space we have prepared in this room and in our hearts. Dwell in and with us, dab mercy on us, renew us for life. Amen.

Anthem Let All Things Now Living – Chancel Choir Traditional

Prayer of Confession You who form all things in and for Love’s sake, we confess that at times we lose sight of Your given goodness. Blinded by ignorance, we stubbornly insist on our own way; only to bring harm to ourselves and others. But then a bolt of lightning hits and we see something new – we see as if for the first time. Things weren’t as we once imagined and we are suddenly in need of redirection. So, startle us with the brilliance of wisdom. Unsettle our certainties. Open us to enlightenment and realign our hearts in keeping with Your own. Most of all, may we be humbled by a deep awareness of Your merciful presence within us, saving us and transforming us for life.
