Write down your target times table, in order, in your Maths Home Learning book. Write down your target times table, out of order, in your Maths Home Learning book. Ask a parent/carer if you can recite your target times tables to them. E.g. “one six is six, two sixes are twelve, three sixes are eighteen” etc. Ask a parent/carer to ask your timetable target out of order, e.g. “What is five multiplied by six? what is nine multiplied by six” If confident, ask a parent/carer to give you an inverse question, e.g. “ 36 divided by 6 is…” Geography: Watch the video at tinyurl.com/rockpoolvideo about animal and plant adaptations. Watch it again and jot down some of the adaptations. What were they for? (Protection, hunting, camouflage, to survive in their environment). Do they know of any other animal or plant adaptations? (Camels, nocturnal animals, etc.). What sort of animals live along the coast? (cliffs, beaches, rockpools). What sort of difficulties will they have to survive? (Weather, predators, tides, waves.) Look at some of the Wildlife Trusts information about rockpools. https://www.wildlifetrusts.or g/wildlife Research a coastal animal and create a little fact page about that animal. This can be completed either on a laptop, computer or paper. There are some ideas for animals in the RESOURCE 6 below. There is also an example template- see RESOURCE 7. Be as creative as possible and make it interesting, bright and detailed.

TUE STARTER: Practise your Target Words from yesterday. MAIN ACTIVITY: This week, we’re working on the exciting English booklet “Journey To The Jungle”! This is a separate download which was sent with this plan or can be downloaded from the school website. Alternatively, you can find it at tinyurl.com/junglejourney You can work through this booklet at your own pace but here’s a suggested breakdown for the week: Tuesday: p3 – 7 Wednesday: p8 – 9 Thursday: p10 – 14 Friday: p15 - 19 Note to parents: There is a lot of work in this booklet so please don’t feel like you have to complete every single task. The children have got a special task on Thursday and Friday so you may not have time to do the work from the booklet on those days. If you want to reduce the amount of work for your child, you could focus on either the poem writing (p8), the jungle log (p14) or the instructions (p19). Planning for these could be done through discussion.

Starter: 1- Times table speed test: www.timestables.co.uk/speed-test/ 2- Today’s maths problem: tinyurl.com/rocketrounding MAIN TASK: Today and tomorrow, we’re looking at 3D shapes. Have a look at RESOURCE 1 for a list of 3D shape names. It doesn’t have every 3D shape on, but it will give you the general idea of how they are named. Once you’ve had a look at that, try working through RESOURCE 2. As usual, there are three difficulty levels (A, B and C) so choose the one you think is best for you.

Science: Focus: Research

This week I’d like to conduct a little Scientific research. Sleep is very important. It helps us process information we’ve received in the day as well as let our bodies recharge and heal. How much sleep are we getting? Do we all need the same? Keep a little diary about the people in your household. What time is everyone settling down to go to sleep? What time does everyone wake up? What do you notice? Are you all getting the same amount of sleep?

THU EXTRA SPECIAL JOB JUST FOR YEAR 4!

Can you record a short video message for the Year 4 Virtual Leavers Service?

Here’s an example of what you could say:

“Hi everyone, hope that you’re all okay. I’ve really missed all of you and I can’t wait to see you all at Maiden Beech. Thanks for being great friends at St Barts and have a super summer!”

Some tips: - Record your clip in landscape not portrait - Talk about children as a group (Year 4, Wagtail, Chaffinch), don’t say individual children’s names or I won’t be able to include your video! - Speak clearly and look into the camera Send your video to [email protected].,gov.uk or use We Transfer if it’s too big to send normally!

RESOURCE 6

Some Coastal animals and plants and their adaptations

Shore crab

They have a tough shell that prevents them from drying out

and protects them from predators and crashing waves. Their

shells are well camouflaged for hiding from predators in rock

pools. They can bury themselves to avoid being washed

away.

Bladder wrack

seaweed

This seaweed is able to firmly attach itself to the rocks to

prevent it from floating away. It also has lots of air pockets,

this means that when the tide is in and the weed is covered

with water, it is able to float on the surface therefore gaining

maximum sun exposure.

Bedlet anemone

They can stick to the rocks of the pool with their large sucker.

To stop them from drying out when the tide goes out, they

can fold their tentacles in.

Starfish

They can stop themselves being washed away with the tide

by gripping the rock with their tiny tube feet.

Guillemot

Their eggs are conical so that they do not roll

off the high, narrow cliff face where they nest –

safe from predators.
