Bob’s Thoughts...

Greatness Takes Time

“And let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9

Many people are already weary and some have become faint. A growing number of them are discouraged to the point of giving up. They certainly have good reason to feel this way - times are hard, things are difficult, and it’s taking a toll on them. The physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual challenges of life have worn them down. As a result, some are merely going through the motions, while others have actually given up. Yet, it doesn’t have to be that way. Our Lord understands that such weariness is a common dilemma. Thus, He admonishes us not to grow weary in well doing. But what constitutes well doing? And how do you keep from growing weary? Only Christ does all things well! (Mark 7:37) Therefore, it’s all about the source! If the source of your activity is Christ, then your Heavenly Father will say, “Well done!” However, when Christ is not the source, regardless of what you do, it won’t turn out well. It’s a matter of flesh versus Spirit. Growing weary is either the result of sowing to the flesh, or losing sight of The Source - the Spirit of life in Christ. You sow to the flesh by living after the flesh. Living after the flesh involves relying on your own human strengths and abilities. That will eventu-ally wear you out. And then you’ll become weary and faint. But when the Spirit of Life in Christ is at work in you, you’ll reap life…and that more abundantly! Allow Christ to express His good and perfect life in and through you! The Harvest will take care of itself.

Have a Great Week! Bob
