Heavenly Father, we walk this journey of faith with our hearts open ready to receive your grace. As we live the events in our lives, guide us and inspire us to deepen our knowledge of you. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Chapel Hours

Have you stopped coming to Chapel? Now would be a good time for you to come back. It would be

so good to come and spend time in prayer. Call Patty Toth at 440-257-2527.

We would love to have you!

Retirement Fund for the Religious

Give thanks for religious. A parishioner writes, “We thank God today and every day for the religious sis-ter who taught us in school, not only our ABC’s, but also to love God.” Share your gratitude for the sen-

ior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious priests who made a positive difference in so many lives. Please give generously to next week’s collection for the Retirement Fund for religious.

Greeter Ministry

The practice of hospitality to

strangers by the Christian community is older than the Church itself. Most first time visi-

tors come to church as a response to a crisis or a change in their lives. It takes courage to attend a new church. It is important that the first person they meet helps them to feel welcome

and a part of our community. We welcome everyone to the Lord’s Table by Jesus’ Invitation. That welcome begins at the door of the church with

a smile and greeting from a parishioner.

We are looking for your warm and gracious

smile to help our Greeter Ministry! There is no

age limit—teen agers to retired persons are welcome to join in this fulfilling ministry. It’s a great way to earn service hours at your High

School! All that is required is a smile and 15 minutes of your time before Mass. Please call the Parish Office (255-3404) to spread the Light of

Christ with your smile and warm greeting.

2014 Entertainment Books

The 2015 Entertainment Books are available in the Parish Office. Stop in during regular business hours to purchase a Christmas gift, hostess gift or

something special for yourself for the holidays.

Entertainment Books are priced at only $30.00

for the 2015 issue.

Advent Prayer to Jesus

You are our eternal salvation, The unfailing light of the world.

Light everlasting, You are truly our redemption.

Grieving that the human race was perishing through the tempter’s power, without leaving the heights

You came to the depths in your loving kindness.

Readily taking our humanity by Your gracious will,

You saved all earthly creatures, long since lost, Restoring joy to the world.

Redeem our souls and bodies, O Christ, And so possess us as Your shining dwellings.

By Your first coming, make us righteous; At your second coming, set us free:

So that, when the world is filled with light And you judge all things,

We may be clad in spotless robes And follow in Your steps, O King,

Into the heavenly hall.

Sacrament of Confirmation for Adults

Four Catholic parishes of Lake County will be sponsoring a program for adults who have not been

confirmed and would like to receive the Sacrament. Maybe you missed Confirmation preparation when you were a student or decided against it. But now you are looking toward marriage and want to be a

fully initiated Catholic or you are ineligible to be a Godparent or Confirmation sponsor because you are not confirmed. Maybe you just feel that something

is missing in your life or relationship with God and you would like to finish your Christian Initiation. This preparation program is for you if;

You have been Baptized and received

your First Communion,

You are now actively practicing your

faith with a good understanding of the

Catholic Christian religion,

You are in a Church-recognized

marriage, if married.

The Adult Confirmation Preparation Classes

will take place on four Monday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 PM beginning January 19, 2015, at St. John Vianney Church. There is a $20 fee for the cost of

the text.

Please call Deacon Bill at 440-255-3404 or email

him at [email protected], to register or if you have any questions as the parish prepares for Confirmation with Bishop Lennon on February 21st. The registration deadline is January 7th.

Please consider finishing your Sacraments of Initiation if you haven’t yet; it could be the perfect

New Year’s resolution.

Toys, Hats, Gloves and Coats

for Christmas

This year, right after Thanksgiving, we will once again be collecting items for needy families.

All items will go to St. Patrick’s, our sister parish in the inner city of Cleveland. Each of the weeks before Christmas we will have a special theme for donations:

1st week ( 11/30) Winter hats, gloves, mittens & scarves of all sizes

2nd week (12/7) New or nearly new chil-

dren’s coats 3rd week (12/14) Toys

The collection box is located in the Mentor Ave. vestibule for your donations. We ask for new or nearly new items; think of it as what you would give your own family (PLEASE, no

stuffed animals).

If you prefer to donate money, please put it in an envelope marked “Toys for Christmas” and drop it in the collection basket. Make all checks payable to St. Mary’s. All money col-lected will be donated to our Helping Hands

organization.

Please keep the children in need in your prayers during this Christmas season. If you missed donating a particular item on its sched-uled week, it’s okay to put your item in the box

any time before December 17th.

If you have any questions, call Deacon Bill at

the parish office. We are featuring Christmas books and various

other new arrivals on the Church Book Rack.

Come see what interests you!!
