Field Construction Engineer I :: to support process and industrial projects in the Southeastern US. The initial location of employment is Kingsport, TN. The entry level position is both to support project needs as well as developmental to advance toward a project management role and beyond. The opportunity is immediate for a candidate who is best qualified and interested in a career in construction.

Essential Functions:

Duties include:

Pre-Construction:

o Provide accounting with estimate data and cost code structure to load budget in timberline

o Work with project controls to develop the project schedule

o Receive and review engineering packages for constructability and completeness

o Perform material take offs

o Issue purchase requisitions with specifications and/or scope for project materials and subcontracts

o Manage Request for Information process and log

o Ensure the field has current drawing revisions to work from, maintain specification and drawing files

o Populate and maintain a Productivity Tracker to track earned value

o Transmit and track submittals to client for materials

Construction:

o Technically support the field, being the interface between construction and design

o Perform vendor inspections of purchased equipment during the pre-deliver fabrication process

o Identify and assemble change requests to the client o Work closely with vendors and subcontractors, writing purchase requisitions for

their changes in scope

o Maintain project red-line set of drawings

o Update Productivity Tracker with installed quantities

o Assist in turnover package development o Quality control support Project Completion:

o Assist in the turnover package walk-down and punch-list process

o Assemble project closeout documentation for submission to client o Ensure red-lines are provided to engineering

o Assist with project closeout and demobilization efforts

Minimum Qualifications:

BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related degree program

5 to 7 years experience manufacturing support, project engineering, or machine design role

Excellent skills with Microsoft office products

Clear proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of an organization

Ability to address construction requirements in a range of disciplines, able to travel when needed.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Engineering/Director of Engineering

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To operate the two-way radio system to provide for effective and accurate

communication between field personnel and others. To receive and record all after-

hours customer calls and determine and dispatch proper personnel and notify

supervisor when necessary in order to provide prompt service and restoration of

service. To maintain a record of activities during off-duty operation. To handle after-

hours customer service requests and to operate SCADA and PORCHE electronic outage

reporting system per supervisor’s instruction.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Four years of high school. Must be enrolled in an accredited college, preferably as a

freshman or a sophomore.

Basic knowledge of general office records and good communication skills. Must learn to

read computer printouts, understand System’s maps and dispatch board and be familiar

with service area. Some knowledge of roads within System area would be helpful.

Must have considerable skill in dealing with people including ability to deal with irate

customers. Requires tact, judgment and courtesy at all times.

Must be able to respond to call-out events within 5 minutes for outages, other system

events and job related responsibilities. May live in dorm room at Service Center on off-

hours.
