Tuition & AM/PM Care – Late Payment All tuition, AM/PM Care, and other charges are due on the first of each month (August thru May). Be- ginning in October 2011, accounts not paid-in-full will be assessed a $15 late charge on the 16th of each month. Picture Day 1st – 7th Grades Parents the date for taking school pictures has been changed to Wednesday, November 2 for 1st – 7th grades. Please take time to review the information regarding picture day that your child brought home yesterday. Picture Day PreSchool – Kindergarten Parents the date for PreSchool and Kindergarten to take pictures was also changed. They will take their pictures Monday, November 28. Roller Skating Party RCS will have its first roller skating party Thurs., November 3 at Lynwood Sport Center. Tickets are in the office. Students who would like to ride the bus must purchase a ticket before signing up to ride the bus. Seating on the bus is limited, remember first come first served. Parent/Teacher Conference Parents don’t forget report card pick-up is Friday, November 4. Information regarding parent/teacher conferences went home yesterday. We would really appreciate if you could return the sheet tomorrow Wednesday, October 26 with the time you would like to meet with your child’s teacher. In the event the time you chose is not available, please give an alternate time to meet your child’s teacher.

Parents today we sent home a flier which we would like you to give to a relative, friend, neighbor or even a co-worker of a preschool age child inviting them to take part in our community play date.

While parents take a tour of the school, your child can experience the love and joy that comes along with the fun and excitement our preschool class receive here at RCS.

Boy Scouts Recruitment If any families are interested in enrolling your son in Boy Scouts, please come to our Recruitment Meeting on Thursday, November 10 @ 3:30 pm. We will have our first Scout Meeting soon. Check next week’s bulletin for more information.

Dear Parents:

Thank you for raising several questions about the need for, and the amount of, homework assigned at Roseland Christian School. We believe that home-work provides the necessary means to reinforce the skills, techniques, and information to which the child is exposed during school hours.

Homework can provide the necessary repetition (drill) to promote skill mastery. In addition, it has been shown that distribution of practice periods of virtually any skill yields results superior to massed practice.

Grades PreK – Homework is sent home twice a month on Tuesday and must be returned on Friday.

Kindergarten – Homework is sent home each Wednesday and must be returned on Friday.

Grades 1 – 2: Receive 2 – 3 daily homework assignments.

Grades 3 – 4: Receive 4 – 6 daily homework assignments.

Grades 5 – 8: Receive 4 – 6 daily homework assignments.

Weekend assignments will consist of projects and/ or a book report. We believe reading for pleasure promotes literacy and fluency. A book report increases writing and comprehension skills.

Wednesday night is considered Church Night and we are considerate of parents and students attend-ing Bible Study. Students may have a light assign-ment or have make-up work that needs to be com-pleted on Wednesday night.
