Sales Ideas THE NEED

Critical illness Insurance possesses broad appeal for a variety of reasons. Considering it covers a number of conditions that are widely known and of-fers direct payments to policy holders that can be used for everything from Gap coverage to travel expenses, it has a little something for almost anyone

TODAYS REALITY

Clients are always cost conscious and there’s no way to know for certain weather or not they’ll use the policy. This is a valid concern—although the covered conditions affect millions of Americans per year, there’s no guaran-tee your clients will be one of them. So if you have clients that don’t want to pay premiums for something they may never use, a built in return of premium can help ease their concerns.

THE SOLUTION

All critical Illness policy’s carry return of premium rider built in. That’s like a money back guarantee. Premium’s they’ve paid minus any policy benefits they’ve received will be refunded to a Beneficiary upon their death. Addition-ally there is no reduction of benefits at age 65. They get the coverage they want with the peace of mind they need.

SALES TIP/EASE THE CONCERN

In addition to the built in return of premium, remind clients of the uses of the direct payment.

1.Replacing lost income while the client is off work

2.Keeping up with ongoing living expenses

3.Paying health insurance deductibles and co-pays

Cash Benefit Cancer Plan...Issue ages 0-69.

Pays maximum benefit amount in cash as listed in the policy schedule up to $50,000 for written satisfactory proof of a first-time diagnosis of internal cancer or malignant melanoma. Benefit can be used for anything - income while not working, travel expenses, at-home care, experimental treatment or whatever is needed. Pays in addition to other coverage. Available for individual, single parent, or family coverage.

HealthGuard (CILS)… Issue ages 18-64.

The plan is critical illness protection which pays a lump sum benefit directly to the policyholder upon written satisfactory proof of first diagnosis. Covered illnesses include: Major Organ Transplant, Heart Attack, Stroke, Total Loss of Eyesight, Total Loss of Hearing, and End Stage Renal Failure. Benefits are available in $10,000 increments, ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. Benefit amounts reduce by 50 percent at age 65. Individual and spouse coverage available.

ProCare® Medicare Supplement Plans... featuring the High Deductible Plan F (HDF). The HDF is a Medicare Supplement Plan F policy that provides all the features and benefits of a standard Plan F, but at a substantially lower premium. The difference is a calendar-year deductible. The amount of the calendar-year deductible for 2019, is $2,300. (Set by the federal government) Why does an HDF policy make great sense? U A’s Company statistics show the majority of their Plan F policyholders have annual claims well below the current deductible amount of $2,300. In fact, Company statistics show that 80% of policyholders ages 65-67 had annual claims averaging $524. If your clients anticipate few claims or small claims, an HDF policy may be the right choice!

After all, why pay premiums for claims they may never have?

MEDICARE PART A DEDUCTIBLE SAVINGS PROGRAM

United American Insurance Company is pleased to offer our Part A

Deductible Waiver Program to qualified UA Medicare Supplement

policyholders.

Setting the standard United American is committed to the Senior

market. Every decision we make is based on what is best for the

customer, the Agent, and the shareholder. Keeping our customers’

costs down on their health insurance premiums is vital to helping us

remain in business and it helps ensure our customers remain satisfied.

How the program works • United American contracts with one or

more preferred hospital networks to include our Medicare

Supplement policyholders in the hospital network.** • Each time a

qualified United American Medicare Supplement policyholder* is

hospitalized during a benefit period in a participating hospital, all

or part of the insured’s Part A hospital deductible will be waived. •

Once the policyholder's required calendar year deductible or out-of

-pocket limit has been met, if applicable, United American will pass on

savings to its policyholder in the form of a credit.

All standardized Medicare Supplement plans, except Plan A (the basic

or core plan), cover the Part A deductible, United American would

normally pay this deductible as an eligible benefit of the Medicare

Supplement policy, after any applicable calendar year deductible or

out-of-pocket limit has been met. With UA’s Part A Deductible Waiver

Program, the hospital may waive all or part of this deductible. If so,

UA saves by not having to pay all or part of this deductible to the

provider and passes along a portion of that savings to you. What it

means to you as our customer • Our Medicare Supplement customers

can most certainly continue to see the doctors and providers of

their choice. • We will not require you to go to any designated

facility for your hospitalization needs, and your United American

policy will continue to pay all eligible expenses due under your

policy, regardless of your choice of doctor/provider. • However, if

you choose to go to a participating hospital provider and incur a

Part A deductible payable under the terms of your policy, you will

participate in the savings. • After discharge from the hospital and

verification that the calendar-year or out-of pocket limit

deductible has been met, you will receive a credit from UA that can

be used to help pay your next premium payment.

Medicare Supplement is a new sales opportunity that we have in a relatively short period of time expanded a com-

petitively priced product into 39 states with more coming this Fall.

New Short Term Medical Portfolio will be rolled out in available states mid July for 8/29 and later effective dates –

these products will offer 12 month, 24 month and 36 month durations based on state regulations. These plans

will position well, offering better benefits and lower pricing.

Group Insurance – We’ve assembled a team of National General Benefit Solutions representatives that will respect

your MGA hierarchy and work with you and your agents to provide Group Insurance expertise for your

agency. If Group is not a main product push for your agency – they will provide the backroom support while

adding another potential income stream for your agents/agency.

This Self-Funding Group Insurance Value Proposition will give a brief overview of the program. If you have interest, let

me know and we’ll set up a conference call to walk thru the entire program.

Aggressive Commission Structure – Street agents get 6%-8% depending on group size/product platform, we can dial

comp up/down very easily for them. In most cases our commissions should be double what they would make from a fully

insured carrier.

Product Flexibility – We have four different product platforms, and should be able to find a price point that a group can

accept, unless there are major health concerns. Within the four product platforms, there is almost unlimited flexibility in

choosing plan designs (pick your deductible, OOP, copays, ER, RX, HDHP, HRA..etc).

- Traditional Plans – PPO w/ Aetna, Cigna, and a few regional PPO networks. Includes INN/OON bene-

fits. Can be 15-40% below fully insured (depending on market)

- Advantage – Same in network benefits, but the OON benefit is stripped out. (-5-7% vs traditional)

- Core Value – Our RBP product. There are no networks associated with this, and our reimbursements to provid-

ers are based on a multiple of Medicare. (-15-25% vs our traditional plans)

- Core Flex – Same as Core Value, but we give the employer the ability to flip to a PPO option 6 months into the

plan if they don’t have a good experience with the RBP model (only one or two groups have actually flipped to a

PPO model mid-stream, this is mostly there to give the Employer and Agent a security blanket).

National Footprint – We have products filed in 49 states for group. In most states we can do groups of 2-300, although

our average size groups is 8 or 9 enrolled. So those small groups are really our bread and butter.

- States that we have size restrictions on; DC, DE, NH, NY, NC, ND

- There are a few other states that don’t technically have size restrictions, but have laws in place that

make selling most small groups very difficult. California is one. Let me know if you need a full list.

Dedicated Pre and Post Sale Service – Agents will have an in house sales rep that can help them navigate the quoting,

underwriting, and submission process. The sales rep will do everything they can to help the agent close the business. As

you know, we’re in house sales people, and are always available to hop on a conference call with a business owner to try

and help the agent (especially if they are new). Once we sell a group, we’re not leaving the agent high and dry. They have

a dedicated account manager that can help them with escalated billing/eligibility/claim issues, but mostly they are there to

help them retain the business once it comes up for renewal.

Expedited Underwriting – In the self-funded world, its really important to know whether a group is a fit for self-funding

or not. The agent will need to pivot to a fully insured offering if they can’t write a self-funded contract. Our underwriting

model is very quick. In the slower months of the year, we normally get prescreens back to the agent within 48 hours of

receipt In Q4, it might be pushed up to five days. Our competition might take 2 weeks to do what we can do in two days.
