Preparation program and interviews are required.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

member of our Catholic Christian Community. For more information
please contact Mrs. Nancy Paino in the Faith Formation Office.
TWENTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…. All parishioners are invited to volunteer to be part of the
offertory procession at the Mass. This may be especially
appropriate if the Mass is being offered for a relative or
friend! Please see one of the ushers before Mass begins to
make your intention known. ******************************************* Thanks to everyone who made a donation last weekend to the
Medical Missionaries of Mary. If you didn’t get the chance to
donate and would like to do so you may visit the Sisters’
website: www.mmmusa.org, or you may send a donation to
the Parish Office or put it in the Sunday offering basket.
Please make checks payable to Christ the King. To date, our
donations amounted to $5,963.00.
*************************************************
The end of the 1st Saturday Mass—Fr. Jeff L’Arche has
been celebrating the 9:00 a.m. Mass on the 1st Saturdays
of each month for a number of years. Now that he is Pastor
in Amsterdam he has begun the 1st Saturday mass there at
St. Mary’s. With the many weekend masses, along with
occasional Funerals and Weddings, I do not feel like I can
take on an added weekend Mass, therefore, effective
immediately, the Mass will no longer be celebrated here at
Christ the King.
*********************************************** Next weekend, we celebrate the Labor Day Holiday. On
Monday, September 5th all Parish Offices will be closed and
there will be no Morning 9:00 a.m. Mass. Enjoy this
traditional end of our summer season by doing something
special and fun with your family.

On behalf of the Diocese and your Parish I am very pleased to announce that once again, we have met the Bishop’s Appeal goal set for us of $135.238! Your generosity is always inspiring and please know that so much of that money will go directly to help students in Catholic schools and also to the needy through Catholic Charities. I am extremely grateful to Don Geoffroy who coordinated every aspect of the Bishop’s Appeal campaign. Thanks Don for another successful effort!************************************************
Congratulations to Christine Gifford and
Ben Spear who were married here at CTK last
Saturday, August 20th. Best wishes and blessings to
them as they begin their married life together. ************************************* NEWS FROM THE ALBANY DIOCESE CONSULTATION

FAITH FORMATION/YOUTH
MINISTRY NEWS:
RCIA AND SACRAMENTAL PREP FOR ADULTS
Do you have questions about the Catholic faith? Is
becoming a Catholic something you have thought about but
never pursued? Have you ever wondered, “How can I do
this”? Have you been Baptized, or made your First
Communion, but still need to complete the sacramental
process? Are family members Catholic and you would like
to be able to share fully with them in worship? Whatever
your needs may be, we are here to help you. We have a
group forming this Fall. Contact Nancy Paino in the Faith
Formation office at 464-4776 or by email at
[email protected] with any questions or to sign up to
join the group. Please join us!

BOTTLES/CANS -Please place your items directly in
the shed which is next to the dumpster. ***********************************************
We Need YOU! We are in need of catechists for
many of our program sessions. Catechists have the
unique opportunity to grow in their faith as they interact
with those they teach. You are part of a
Ministry that is crucial to the life of our parish
community and will receive training and ongoing
support. We have the following opening for you to
prayerfully consider:
Monday 4pm 2nd grade, Tuesday 4pm, 4th grades,
Tuesday 6pm 5th grade. Tuesday 7:15pm ,6th, 7th
& 8th grades. Monday 7pm: 9th & 10th grades.
Being a catechist is a wonderful way to model the
importance of faith to our children, an opportunity
to grow in your faith as you prepare to teach each session,
as well as to help our children grow in their
relationship with Jesus and the Church.
We can be creative in how we do this: you can be the
primary, solo catechist, or you can team teach so you
have others to work with and provide flexibility when life
happens. For 5 years, we had a team of 3 catechists who
worked collaboratively with their group of children. It was
an effective way to be involved and help pass on the faith!
Please contact the FF Office at 464-4776, or
[email protected] for further information.
Prayer of a Catechist
Here I am Lord, I am not worthy to be the one to
teach your truths, but you in your infinite wisdom,
have called me to this place. Give me the wisdom
to use my abilities for the good of your kingdom.
Give me the courage to be a witness of the Gospel.
Give me the grace to deepen my Faith so that I
might share that Faith with others. With your
help, I will speak your words. Reveal your
presence. Show your love. Now and all the days
of my life. Amen
