Baptism InformationThe next English Baptism classes will be held on Janu-ary 19 and February 16 at 7:00 pm. You may take the class before your baby is born. The next English Bap-tism dates will be on January 28 and February 25. Basic Requirements: A parent may register in per-son at the parish office; bring original birth certificate; present Sacramental documentation and parents and godparents must attend Baptism class. Godparents are to be (1) fully initiated into the Catholic Church; Baptized, received 1st Communion and Confirmation, (2) be at least 16 years old, (3) practicing the faith, and (4) if married, must be in accordance with the Catholic Church. You are not required to be a registered parishioner, however, we invite you to become a member of our parish and participate in our church life. Father Rudy, the Religious Education Department, our catechists, assistants and volunteers welcome you back to class. It's important that you and your children at-tend class. Come and fall in love with the Lord. We can't fall in love with someone we don't know.

Always ResponsibleIn the 1940's, Antoine de Saint Exupéry wrote a story for children, The Little Prince. The Little Prince inhab-its a small asteroid, where he spends his time caring for one beautiful rose. The Little Prince visits Earth, where he meets the Fox who asks the Little Prince to tame him. The Fox says taming means being responsible for someone. The Little Prince says he understands taming because of the rose that he loves, cares for, and pro-tects. The Fox says the rose must be special because of all that time devoted to it. The Fox also tells the Little Prince that the most significant things in life are seen only with the heart, and he warns him not to forget a key truth: You are responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. We have each established ties with the Ca-thedral on some level, and whatever time and abilities we devote to Go and to each other make those con-nections stronger. We obviously need our parish, or we wouldn't be here. The Cathedral is our spiritual home and a source of life through worship, friendships and shared labor. The ties that we establish with our fel-low parishioners form that essential connection that is invisible to the eye. The parish, in turn, needs our time, our devotion, care and protection, and our monetary support to fulfill its mission. The good new is that God has "tamed" us and is responsible for us in the here and now and on into the future. It seems only right that all of us, in turn, are responsible for God's church, God's people, and God's world. Are you doing your part?

Messsage from the Rector:Dear Friends, As I reflect on all of the blessings that our Lord has bestowed on our community this past year, I am filled with gratitude and appreciation for all of you and for all that you do to make our Cathedral com-munity a welcoming, inclusive home where all are received with joy. In a very special way, I would like to express my gratitude to Father Eugene Azorji, who has been reassigned to St. Michael the Archangel in McKin-ney effective February 6, 2017. It has been a bless-ing to have him here and he will be sorely missed. On behalf of Father Eugene, Father Angel and me, thank you to all of you who showered us with your love with cards, food, gifts (monetary and other) during the year, but especially during this Christ-mas Season. Your support is so important to our ministries and you are much appreciated. As we enter into Ordinary Time in the Liturgical year, let us keep in mind that, indeed there is noth-ing ordinary about Ordinary Time. January 18 - 25, 2017The 2017 theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity revolves around the occasion of the 500th an-niversary year of the beginnings of the Reformation. The theme: “Reconciliation – The Love of Christ Com-pels Us” (2 Corinthians 5:14-20) has two accents: reflection upon the main concerns of the churches marked by Martin Luther’s Reformation and secondly recognizing the pain of the subsequent deep divisions which afflicted the unity of the Church. In selecting this theme, it is viewed as an opportunity to take steps toward reconciliation. Pray for Christian Unity.

Siempre Responsable En la década de 1940, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry escribió El Principito, una famosa historia de niños. El Principito vive en un pequeño asteroide donde pasa su tiempo dedi-cado al cuidado de una hermosa rosa. El Principito visita la Tierra donde se encuentra con un Zorro, que le pide al Principito que lo domestique. El Zorro le dice que do-mesticar quiere decir hacerse responsable, tal como hace con su rosa. Nuestra Catedral es nuestro hogar espiritual y fuente de vida mediante el culto divino, las amistades y las actividades compartidas. Obviamente necesitamos de nuestra parroquia o no estuviéramos aquí. El tiempo que le damos a dios y dedicamos a los demás hacen mas estrecho el vinculo entre nosotros. Dios nos ha "domes-ticado" y se ha hecho responsable de nosotros ahora y para siempre. Lo justo seria que todos nosotros nos hi-ciéramos responsables de la Iglesia de Dios, El pueblo de Dios y el mundo de Dios. ¿Estas cumpliendo tu parte?

Estimados Amigos, Mientras reflejo sobre todas las bendiciones que el Señor ha regalado a nuestra comunidad en este ultimo año, me siento lleno de agradecimiento y aprecio por todos ustedes y por todo lo que hacen para que nuestra comunidad de Catedral sea una comunidad que es inclusiva donde todos son reci-bidos con una bienvenida llena de alegría. De una manera muy especial quiero expresar mi agradecimiento al Padre Eugene Azorji quien ha sido asignado a la parroquia de San Miguel Arcán-gel en McKinney empezando el 6 de febrero del 2017. Ha sido una bendición tenerlo en aquí y se le extrañara mucho. De parte de Padre Eugene, Padre Ángel y de mi par-te, quiero agradecer a todos los que nos bendijeron con amor con sus regalos de tarjetas, comida y re-galos (monetarios y otros) durante este año, pero particularmente durante este tiempo de Navidad. Su apoyo es tan importante a nuestros ministerios y damos muchas gracias a Dios por ustedes. Ahora que entramos en el Tiempo Ordinario del Año Litúrgico, acordemos que en realidad no hay nada ordinario del Tiempo Ordinario. Lo que pasa en la Misa cada semana en la Eucaristía es el prin-cipio de nuestra semana y una reflexión de nuestro deseo profundo de mantener al Cristo vivo con no-sotros y en nosotros durante toda la semana. Dios nos a concedido muchas bendiciones en este ultimo año y tenemos mucho de que agradecer. Oración en la Ocasión de La Inauguración de Nuestro Nuevo Presidente

Dios todopoderoso y eterno, que has revelado tu gloria a todas las naciones. Dios de poder y fuerza, sabiduría y justicia, por medio de ti, la autoridad se administra con razón, se promulgan leyes, y se decreta juicio.

Ayuda con tu espíritu de consejo y fortaleza a este Pre-sidente de Los Estados Unidos, y que su administra-ción se conduzca con justicia y que se eminentemente útil a las personas por quien preside. Que el fomente el debido respeto a la virtud y a la religión. Que el eje-cute la leyes con justicia y misericordia. Que el trate de restringir el crimen, el vicio y la inmoralidad.

Del mismo modo encomienda a todos los ciudada-nos de los Estados Unidos a tu eterna misericordia para que seamos bendecidos can sabiduría y sea-mos santificados en la observación de tu santa ley. Que seamos preservados en unión y que la paz reci-bamos la paz que el mundo no puede dar. Y después de disfrutar de las bendiciones de esta vida, sea-mos admitidos a la vida eterna. Semana Internacional de Oración Por La Unidad de Los Cristianos

Reconciliación - El Amor de Cristo Nos Obliga18 al 25 de enero 2017

El tema de 2017 por la Semana de oración por la unidad de los cristianos gira en torno al motivo de los 500 años de aniversa-rio de los inicios de la Reforma. El tema: “La reconciliación — El amor de Cristo nos obliga” (2 Corintios 5: 14-20) tiene dos acentos: la reflexión sobre las principales preocupaciones de las iglesias marcadas por la Reforma de Martín Lutero y el recono-cimiento en segundo lugar el dolor de las profundas divisiones posteriores que afectó a la unidad de la Iglesia. En la selección de este tema, que es vista como una oportunidad para dar pasos hacia la reconciliación. Recen por la reconciliación Cristiana.
