Your child has participated in interactive learning activities that have involved music, stories, craft, computer and iPad activities, social skill development, familiarising themselves with their new environment and for some, the most important thing - bus travel! which is always very exciting. During this time children become more confident, socially, emotionally and academically. These skills will assist them in their current journey from Preschool, to Kindergarten in 2015. It takes many people to make our program a success and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved from office staff, teachers, teacher’s aides, executive staff and senior library monitors. Our local preschools; Jack and Jill, Early Intervention, George Street Children’s Centre, Catherine Campbell Centre, Kindamindi, Platypus, and you the parents and carers for your dedication, care and commitment to our future students and their families. ** SHINE/Strength Program The Shine Girls and Strength Boys programs are

currently being conducted at our school. These are six week programs that look at developing self worth and increasing self esteem, developing strength within oneself, making good choices and resisting peer pressure, respecting oneself and those around us and thinking about what the future may hold. All of the students that are currently involved look forward to working with their mentors each Wednesday afternoon.

****************** Head Lice We are aware there have been ongoing cases of head lice. Please ensure, if your child is infested, they are treated immediately and thoroughly before returning to school. Head lice become resistant to regular treatment and the school has been given an all natural, inexpensive treatment option. For a copy of this please call the front office on 67223072. ****************************************************************************************

Science in the Bush On Friday 7th November, 22 students from Year 5 travelled to Armidale UNE to participate in “Science in the Bush”. During the day we carried out an experiment to test your hands for germs. We carried out a test on speed and accuracy by throwing a ball at a target and measuring the results from different distances. After lunch we went into the chemistry lab where we learnt how the different colours in fire works are made by heating different chemicals. We also got to make slime!

Everyone had a really good time. Congratulations to Jessie Bills on winning a prize in the lucky dip!
