YEAR 3 CLASS NEWS It has certainly been a busy start to the final Term for our Year 3 class and every student has demonstrated their desire to knuckle down and continue to work hard to improve their results before they enter Year 4. The class finished Term 3 having thoroughly enjoyed Gym Matrix, the Michael Salmon Author visit, a School Disco and the Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off. This term, we have begun writing explanations using some interesting how and why questions – there will certainly need to be some research into several topics chosen by the students, to inform their writing. Our History unit will look into the First Fleet and Early Exploration of Australia. Our Science unit will look at the changes in state when objects are heated and how heat travels between objects. In Music, the class has been keen to learn the ukulele and a few students have mastered the switch between C, G, F and A chords and will be able to combine them in some well-known songs. Sport time is heating up with some fun and active Zumba sessions – thoroughly enjoyed by all. The most exciting event on our calendar will be the Dubbo Zoo Snooze excursion in week 6. Please be sure to read the notes which have details about the excursion and ensure all medical information is documented and returned. The final few weeks at school will include our intensive swimming program, Presentation Evening, the end of year party and Christmas activities

POSITIVE EDUCATION DAY Last Friday November 2nd, DPS participated in Positive Education Day to raise awareness and understanding of Positive Education in schools and communities, and to encourage students, teachers and families to learn and talk about how to grow their own wellbeing, and support the wellbeing of those around them. This years themes for Positive Education Day was Colour Your Threads for Pos Ed – and it was fantastic to see students, teachers and staff wearing colourful clothes to make Positive Education visible in schools. A total of $161.40 was raised to support the Where there’s a Will Foundation. We would like to thank all families for their generous contributions.

SPORTS REPORT Zumba Students from K-6 are thoroughly enjoying Zumba sessions for sport. It’s great to see students singing, dancing and having fun with their friends, and working all their muscles at the same time. The perfect combination! We have two sessions remaining. Again, thank you to the SRC for kindly subsidising the cost of these sessions for students.

Intensive swimming Intensive swimming lessons will begin on 23rd November for students K-3 and selected students from Years 4-6. Notes were sent home last Wednesday. The green note needs to be returned to the office with $20 payment ASAP (unless you have a pool season pass).

Thank you to families who supported the Kindergarten Cake Day last week.

A total of $197.55 was raised and donated to the SRC.

We would like to thank Kaylene, Julia, Therese, Kate and Amy for their

assistance with running the stall.
