character traits-words that describe a character’s personality.

narration- a spoken description or explanation which is given during a story or play.

insensitive- not noticing or

caring about other people’s

feelings.

insecure- not feeling at all

confident about yourself, your

abilities, or your relationships

with people.

bold- not afraid of taking risks

and making difficult decisions.

dull- not interesting or

exciting.

lively- a person or situation

that is exciting.

loneliness- sadness due to a

lack of company.

canine- relating to a dog.

Winn-Dixie is Opal’s canine companion.

orphan- a child who is parentless.

complicated-hard to understand or explain.

exception- something that is not included in a rule.

and therefore very difficult to

see.

puny- small, thin, and weak.

miniature- much smaller

than normal.

teeny- very small.

undersized- too small.
