Students will not be allowed to use any they bring from home. The short cycles looked promising, I’ve yet to finish grading the extended response portion but I hope it looks as good as the multiple choice section. Great strides were made this week in learning how to use fractions. We learned that to make equivalent fractions we must multiply or divide by a fraction that is equal to 1. What ever we do to the top, we must do to the bottom, and vice versa. “Don't lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations. Expect the best of yourself, and then do what is necessary to make it a reality.” - Ralph Marston MONDAY Simplifying Fractions Homework: DSR 6-1 Due: Wednesday 1/26 Math Backpack (BP): Leora Other Notes: TUESDAY Converting Decimals to Fractions Homework: DSR 6-2 Due: Thursday 1/27 Math Backpack (BP): PJ Other Notes: Mastery Quiz 3- Coordinate Grid WEDNESDAY Converting Fractions to Decimals Homework: DSR 6-3 Due: Friday 1/28 Math Backpack (BP): Timmy Other Notes: THURSDAY Fractions & Decimals on a number line. Homework: DSR 6-4 Due: Monday 1/31 Math Backpack (BP): Jordan Other Notes: Mastery Quiz 1: Measuring Angles & Using Benchmarks FRIDAY Add fractions with Unlike Denominators. Homework: None, have a great weekend! Math Backpack (BP): (based on sign ups) Other Notes: Notebook Quiz 17 A Weekly Newsletter January 24 - 28 This Week This week I am attending a tech conference in the Toledo area. Mrs. Chilson will be leading our math class so that it is consistent with what we have been doing. This week they will continue to work with equivalent fractions and will begin to convert fractions and decimals. We will only be tackling the tenths, hundredths, and thousandths - the ones that convert easily. When I return we will put fractions and decimals on a number line and begin to add fractions that have unlike denominators. Other Notes Conferences are quickly approaching. I would be more than happy to discuss your child’s progress with you, just make sure you sign up for me! (I’ll be in the lab) Also February is Kindness Month. We will again be collecting Books, Blankets, and Stuffed Animals, as well as monetary donations, and pop tabs! More details about this soon!! Students have been putting in a much better effort on their homework. Thank you for your encouragement and please continue expecting excellence from your child!

Last WeekThe beginning of the week was spent drawing angles with our protractors. We will provide students with the protractors that are needed for the test.
