Use your detective skills and help us track down pests like rats, stoats and mice. Earn a Kiwi Guardians medal for becoming a Pest Detective! The whole school watched how they could make their own tracking tunnel and become a pest detective. The link is below so you can help your child/ren at home to do this. As well as instructions there is also a video that shows how to make them. The resulting tunnel and the evidence of tracks on paper will become part of an Ag Day display and can also be accredited to your child/ren's participation in this year's Taporapora Environmental Award. As an extra bonus they can also win a medal from DOC.

https://www.doc.govt.nz/…/conserva…/become-a-pest-detective/ The New Zealand Dance Company Performance: Last Friday we went to a Matariki performance by The New Zealand Dance Company. Thanks to Tauhoa School for hosting this wonderful experience and to Chris for great bus transport. As you will see the dancers had our students entranced.

Sharing some of our students work: Poem The farm was usual enough it had rivers bogs tractors a farm house and a bale stack three bales high. I Climb as high as I can go but I’m scared of heights so I don’t do it much. In the afternoon we feed cows silage Doing nothing important By Taylor A place I go to in the Community. I go to Port Albert playground. I go with my brother and mum. I used to play on the swings. I usually walk down the boardwalk. I see water and boats. I have once been on the boat when I was five. Our school has once had a trip down there. Now I only play on the slide usually at Port Albert and I usually climb the tree over the water. It is very dangerous. By Briana

Poem Birds Beach was usual enough;

It had Beach Houses, boats, fish, men Tractors that pull the boats out of the water

Birds flying, sand. When I go there I feel the wind.

Me and Ginger will grab sticks and play a war game. Doing nothing important

BOT INFORMATION Next meeting is a rural schools’ collaborative board meeting for training held in Warkworth 20th August. The next Board meeting at Tapora will be September 25th 6:30pm. All are welcome as Board meetings are ‘open to the public’. This means that even if you're not a trustee you are welcome to attend as an observer although you will not have speaking rights the way you would if it was a ‘public meeting’. Agenda Health Promoting Schools - Stewardship REMINDERS: -If your child has a cold and a runny nose please send them to school with either a box of tissues or hankies. Sadly our very tight budget does not allow for the purchase of tissues. We have been fortunate in the past to have had them donated to us and hopefully we will be able to receive the same this coming winter but in the meantime we are down to our last few boxes. -Notifying the school of changes to bus travel. We need to be notified by the parents/caregivers of the child if there are any changes to bus travel arrangements at the end of the day. We cannot accept changes from anyone else. -Please include a healthy brain break in your child’s lunchbox. Fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds or cheese are acceptable options. -For the juniors a change of clothing in case of accidents. -Footwear suitable for running and jumping activities. THANK YOU TO: Charlotte Gibbs and the team at ToiToi for the wonderful journals they donate to our students. Also to Tony Gibbs who delivers them to the school. Thankyou also the following local businesses/farms who have sponsored Tapora School by nominating us to Northfuels when receiving bulk fuel deliveries. For every 2 litres of bulk fuel purchased 1 cent is donated to our school. To date you have raised $921.17 towards our $1,000 target. For more information about the programme call 0800 4843543 or visit the website.
