Dear All, I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Tina Hellmers was named 2018 Southern District Teacher of the Year at the recent Southern District Teacher Conference. She has provided tremendous stability to our Grade 1 program and has been a significant blessing in the life of our school. We are truly blessed to have her on our faculty! In addition, Mrs. Rachel Harney was honored for 30 years in the teaching ministry! Congratulations to Mrs. Harney!
ALS teachers have more district awards than any other faculty in the district. I have listed those recipients below. Here is more information on our 2018 recipient Mrs. Tina Hellmers:
Mrs. Tina Hellmers began teaching 1st grade at Atonement Lutheran School in 2000.
She taught at St. Paul - First English Lutheran School in New Orleans from 1984-1990.
She was nominated for the Elementary Educator of the Year in the Southern District in
2008. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Concordia College,
Seward, Nebraska and is certified by the State of Louisiana. Originally from Missouri,
Mrs. Hellmers met her husband after moving to New Orleans. They have three
daughters, all Atonement graduates. She enjoys reading, baking cookies and eating at
restaurants. We are truly blessed at Atonement Lutheran Church and School. In our Lord's service, Mr. Molin Principal
The following is a list of current Faculty members having won the award previously:

such a great group along with all the other members of our dedicated faculty. They are dedicated
to serving our Lord with the children you have entrusted to us.

our approximate standard in recent years. 2019-20 Fees are begin
studied at this time. Some of the classes will fill almost instantly as
ALS enrollment is on the rise so you will want to move fast.

FEATURUING SPEAKERS FROM EACH CLASS (who auditioned) RATHER
THEN EVERY MEMBER OF THE CLASS WITH A SPEAKING PART.
Students need to be present in their classrooms 20 minutes prior (6:40 pm) to the
service. We expect that all students will participate in the service.
WHEN TAKING PICTURES/VIDEO (NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY) DURING THE
SERVICE, please do so from your seat remaining seated (so those behind you can see)
rather than filling the aisles or from the front. Again, this will prevent disruption
during the service.

Girls - dress, skirt, or dressy pants; must have straps and a modest neckline; midriff must
be covered; mini-skirts and jeans are not allowed; DRESSES MUST BE AN
APPROPRIATE LENGTH (KNEE LENGTH) – School Administration/Faculty reserves
the right to make any judgments on this issue. Thanks.
If you are concerned that an outfit is too revealing, check with us before the night of the
service.
CAUTION IS ALSO ENCOURAGED REGARDING OF HIGH HEELS as girls will be
moving around for their various parts and songs including standing on risers. We are
concerned for safety.
Boys - dress pants and shirt; jeans, caps shorts, t-shirts, and shirts with slogans are not
allowed; athletic shoes (school shoes are acceptable) may not be worn
Seating will be on worship chairs and bleachers. Please be aware of the noise that
can be created in the bleachers especially with young children walking up and down
them. Thanks.
Also, we need parental assistance in carrying student chairs back to the school
building following the service. You can trade your chair for your child/ren in
his/her/their classroom(s) following the service. Thanks (:
Student attendance is mandatory. If you have questions, please contact Mr. Molin
at ext. 156 or email [email protected]. Thanks.
