2. E.A. Poe– When– Lifestyle– Mental State– What he wrote

The genre of gothic horror was created in the eighteenth century-intended to captivate audiences with suspense, blood, and death. Gothic horror stories strike fear in the reader and invoke a new phenomena of terror. As a true mastermind of gothic horror, Edgar Allan Poe indulges readers in parallels of his isolated and psychotic life. In the mid eighteen hundreds Poe creates two chilling stories: "The Masque of the Red Death" and "The Fall of the House of Usher".
