    KUWAIT: An oil company employee work-ing in Wafra narrowly escaped death whiledriving to work yesterday when his vehiclehit a camel that suddenly crossed the road.The man was not injured but the animaldied on the spot.

    Bedoons aidZakat House strongly denied rumors whichspeculated that aid funds for bedoons(stateless) were going to be stopped. In thisregard, Zakat House Director Dr IbrahimAhmed Al-Saleh stressed that aid supportwill continue for bedoon families registeredin the houses records. Supplies they gotthrough coupons and can be used in coopswere temporarily stopped, he explained,noting that the stateless families who hadreceived those coupons for two monthshad instead directly received supplies fromZakat House in Salmiya. Mutarstressed that streets usually get more con-gested during the holy month, urgingmotorists to observe traffic rules and regu-lations to avoid fatal tragic accidents thatmay happen.

    Cleaning companiesKuwait Municipality Director Ahmed Al-Subaih recently urged branch managersand cleaning departments officials to exertmore efforts because he believed theirservices were still below par. Speaking at ameeting yesterday, Subaih urged munici-pality officials to fine violating cleaningcompanies and avoid charging the munici-pality any unnecessary expenses.Meanwhile, Deputy Director for Hawallyand Ahmadi Governorates Affairs Fahad Al-Otaibi said that the contracts signed withthe cleaning companies cost KD 285 mil-lion. This is a high value compared to pre-vious contracts, he remarked, noting thecompanies were fairly paid and must becompliant to the obligations stated in thecontracts.

    KUWAIT: Arab Planning Institutes Director General Dr Bader Malullah received a delegation from the Civil Service Commission led by AssistantUndersecretary for Administrative Development Nabil Al-Mejel. The two sides discussed plans to prepare a workforce development plan in Kuwait forthe period between 2016 and 2020.

    KUWAIT: MP Faisal Al-Kandari stressed that ever sinceits establishment in 2010, the Central Apparatus forStateless People (bedoons) has so far failed to achieveits goals as the bedoons problems remain unsolved,antagonizing both bedoons and the entire Kuwaitipeople. The apparatus only made the problem worsethough its founding charter stressed the need to solv-ing the problem within five years, he said, calling fortransferring responsibility for the bedoons issue tothe Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of InteriorSheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah instead.

    Procedural law MP Saleh Ashour urged fellow lawmakers who

    had recently proposed amending the penal andcourt procedures law to withdraw their proposal

    because it was a negative indicator in terms of liber-ties.

    Ashour told reporters that the proposal called forreactivating the pre-2012 amendments form of thelaw, which used to entitle public prosecutors to holdany suspect for four days pending investigation anddetain him for 21 days, before being amended to 48hours and 10 days respectively. We cannot go back-wards now after three years of amending the law andincrease detention period, he concluded.

    KUWAIT: MBC Group denied yester-day rumors that it planned to pur-chase the frequencies of Al-Watan TV,a Kuwaiti news website reported.

    Rumors had circulated that theMBC Group has bought the frequen-cies of Al-Watan TV, which was shutdown last week. The channel wouldbe called MBC Kuwait and will broad-cast a number of serials during theholy month of Ramadan that wereproduced by Al-Watan TV, the rumorsspeculated. But according to MBCGroups spokesman, all those rumorsare baseless, Al-Rai Al-Aam reported.

    KUWAIT: A fire was reported at two storesin Amghara scrap yard Monday night.Firefighters from four different fire stationswere called to the scene to put out theblaze which covered an area of 4,000

    square meters. Strong winds as well aswood and plastic materials that wereinside the two shops helped the flamesspread over a large area, Kuwait FireServices Directorate said. The fire waseventually put out and no injuries werereported.

    KUWAIT: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah met the visiting United States Assistant Secretary of State Frank Rose yester-day. During the meeting, the minister touted the deep relations between Kuwait andthe US, pointing to mutual willingness to promote and develop bilateral coopera-tion, the Defense Ministrys Directorate of Moral Guidance and Public Relations saidin a statement.
