Sidewalk and FEMS clearway doors at Adams Street Construction Staging Area.

Purpose

The doors will beautify the construction site by converting the required FEMS security gates into works of art

The newly painted doors may deter graffiti

Decorated with a series of positive themes that: highlight the benefits of the project, and celebrate the rich, social and cultural history of the Bloomingdale

and LeDroit Park neighborhoods

Provide an education opportunity for local youth

6

The two major themes of the art will be transformation and hard work conveyed through the imagery of the Butterfly and the Bee

Themes that will be present in the works include: Public health, clean water, preserving the Chesapeake

Bay, and historic figures in the community

Color themes will be vibrant, and the artists will use DC Water’s blue and green colors, where applicable
