    2012 GENERAL VALUATION ROLL FOR THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN

    Notice is hereby given in terms of section 49 (1)(a)(i) of the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates

    Act, Act No. 6 of 2004, hereinafter referred to as the “Act,” that the 2012 General Valuation Roll for the

    period starting 1 July 2013 – until the next general valuation roll is produced - is open for public inspection

    at the venues as stated below as from 21 February 2013 until 30 April 2013. The forms for the lodging of

    objections are obtainable at these venues. In addition the valuation roll is available on the Council website

    as from 21 February 2013, the address of which is provided below.

    In terms of Section 49(1)(a)(ii) of the Act, any property owner or other person who so desires may lodge

    an objection with the municipal manager in respect of any matter reflected in, or omitted from, the general

    valuation roll within the abovementioned period.

    Owners will be notified of their valuations in writing at the postal address held on the City’s database.

    Attention is specifically drawn to the fact that in terms of section 50(2) of the Act an objection must be in

    relation to a specific individual property and not against the valuation roll as a whole. The forms for lodging

    an objection can be obtained from one of the venues listed below, and can be downloaded from the website.
