Bespoke Entertaining

John Hennessey, Catering Manager

Welcome

At Dunham Massey we pride ourselves on a tradition of fine food and offering a unique opportunity to dine within these splendid surroundings. We use seasonal and local ingredients, some of which are produced on our estate.

Stables Restaurant is a wonderful setting for evening dining and licensed for the sale and consumption of alcohol, entertainment, music and dancing until 12 midnight. (Licence extensions may be available on request)

There is ample free parking for all of your guests and we are able to arrange a taxi service for any guests who require it. We also have wheelchairs available for you to borrow. We are able to offer the services of Mike Culleton, Toast Master.

Welcome to Dunham Massey and thank you for considering us for your special function. Whether hosting a wedding reception, birthday celebration, Christmas party or anniversary dinner we will ensure that it will be a memorable occasion for you in a beautiful setting. When booking a special event at Dunham Massey you are directly helping the National Trust to continue our conservation work at this special place.

If the walls of Dunham Massey Hall could talk they would tell the stories of over 400 years of life and drama in one family. A long line of Earls called Dunham Massey their home, firstly the Booth family, Earls of Warrington and later through marriage the Grey family and Earls of Stamford.

Dunham Massey Hall was donated to the National Trust in 1976 by the last Earl of Stamford and since then visitors have returned time and again to admire the 300 acre deer park, the wonderful lake and stunning gardens.

In the following pages we have suggested some sample menus and packages but please do make an appointment for a bespoke quotation ~ we feel that each event is unique and we will do our best to tailor our offer to your needs. I’m afraid we are unable to host functions over bank holiday weekends or in school holidays.

If I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

We’re very happy to discuss your preferences for venue dressing. We will provide some floral decoration, fabric table runners, linen napkins, menus, and LED tea lights. You are welcome to provide us with additional flowers, balloons and table accessories to decorate the Restaurant and coordinate with your event themes and colours. We can provide linen tablecloths at an additional cost.

Tables can be laid out as long tables or smaller square tables. You’re welcome to borrow our table plan frame and stand as well as our cake stand and knife.

If you would like recommendations for bands, DJs, string quartets, ceilidh bands, florists, cake companies, transport services or photographers these are listed at the back of the pack. We can receive deliveries from companies on your behalf in the days leading up to your function. The restaurant has a capacity of 80 guests for dinner & up

Contract of Hire

This Contract sets out your obligations in respect of the hire of part or all of a National Trust property. National Trust properties are considered to be of cultural and historical importance to the nation, you should therefore read through this contract carefully (including the Additional Terms and Conditions). 1. Contract: In consideration of the payment of the Charges and your adherence to the terms and conditions set out below, NTE

shall make the Venue available to the Hirer at the agreed times. Where the booking includes services to be provided by NTE, NTE will provide such services using reasonable skill and care.

Liability (Yours and NTE's): You will be liable to NTE for any damage and/or loss sustained by NTE or any third party as a result of

any act or omission by you, your contractors, staff or invitees, including as a result of any breach of this Agreement. You are therefore responsible for your contractors, staff and invitees. Please note that, unless we agree otherwise, NTE's total financial responsibility to you in re-spect of any function shall not exceed 150% of the total charges, even if the loss you suffer is more than this. If you wish to ar-range additional protection in the event of things going wrong please speak to the Property Manager (or you may wish to obtain appropriate insurance). Nothing in this agreement excludes NTE's liability for death or personal injury caused by NTE or for fraud. Nothing in this agreement affects your statutory rights. Please speak to your citizens' advice bureau if you would like further information as to your statutory rights.

Insurance: It shall be regarded as an essential pre-condition of the hire that appropriate indemnity insurance cover is taken out by

the Hirer. The Hirer shall provide public liability insurance (& products liability insurance where necessary) to a minimum limit of £2M for any one occurrence , and shall maintain such insurance in force for the duration of this agreement. The Hirer is to pro-vide evidence that a policy has been taken out and the premium paid prior to the Date of Hire.

The Hirer is to ensure that their contractors are aware of and abide by the restrictions set out in this contract. Only contractors who have been pre-approved by NTE in writing will be able to operate within the Property. ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The function shall be by private invitation only. For health, safety and security reasons the numbers of guests agreed within this

contract must not be exceeded, unless written agreement is received from NTE. A full list of all attendees, including contractors,

staff and invitees, must be provided to NTE no later than 14 days prior to the function.

The Hirer, its contractors, staff and invitees shall comply with all health, safety and emergency procedures and instructions noti-fied by NTE.

If a marquee or any other external equipment is brought onto the Property they must be situated in areas designated by the NTE.

No electrical equipment shall be fixed or installed at the Property without the approval of NTE and all portable equipment must have a current test certificate (Portable Appliance Test). Any freestanding equipment should be of a sturdy construction. The Hirer shall ensure that the electrical system of the Property is not overloaded.

The Hirer shall not issue, publish, display or erect any advertisement, poster, programme or literature without the prior written consent of NTE. No such material shall be authorised where it is reasonably considered by NTE to be in bad taste, ob-scene or harmful to the reputation of the Property or NTE. The Hirer shall not be entitled to the use of the name “The Na-tional Trust” or its associated logo without the prior written consent of NTE.

The Hirer shall not use the Venue nor act in any way on the Property in such a way as to cause any nuisance, damage, disturb-ance, annoyance, inconvenience or interference to any adjoining or neighbouring property or to the owners, occupiers or users of such adjoining or neighbourhood property.

Parking areas for contractors, suppliers and guests must be strictly adhered to, so that access is available to emergency vehi-cles at all times. A schedule may be required detailing arrival times, size of vehicles etc for all suppliers at least 14 days in advance of the Function.

Music is only allowed where this has been previously agreed in writing by NTE and shall be subject to restrictions as to amplifi-cation and times. The Hirer shall permit NTE or the police/regulatory authority or their authorised agents to visit all parts of the Venue at any time and for any purpose.

The Hirer will ensure that the Property’s ‘No Smoking’ rules are observed, and only permit smoking in the designated area. The Hirer must not permit any unlawful or political activities to be carried out at the Property. No food or drink shall be brought to the Property other than by an approved caterer to the agreed designated areas. The Venue will be left clean and tidy and in the same condition as before the function. The Hirer shall not make any changes or

additions to the Venue of any kind. Where the Venue is left in an unsatisfactory condition NTE shall be entitled to levy a Surcharge.

Due to the fragile nature of the fabric and contents of NTE properties the Hirer must ensure that any children attending the func-tion are kept under careful supervision.

No furniture or other NTE contents within the Property may be moved unless by prior written agreement. The NTE will provide guidance on the location of furniture or equipment brought onto the Property. Equipment is not permitted to be physically attached or taped to exhibits or interior surfaces including floors.

Accidents and damage must be reported to the NTE representative immediately so that appropriate action can be taken to mini-mise permanent damage, and the Hirer must sign an Accident Damage Report form before they leave the Property.

The Hirer shall not authorise or permit any recording or broadcasting of the function, other than for personal use, nor transmit, or reproduce by film, video or television or any other means without the prior written approval of NTE.
