Re-opening Health & Safety PlanThe Options Planned

• Plan A: All Students in School, Every Day

• Plan B: Blue/Red Alternating Days in School and Online.

• Plan C: All Online in Canvas if forced out of school

• Plan D: Opt-out of the above for at home Remote Learning until comfortable returning

Re-opening Health & Safety PlanPlan A: All In, Every Day

Rationale: This plan prioritizes getting students back to school for the full in-school academic experience. Social distancing is reduced simply because of the sheer numbers of students.

• All students in school every day.• Classrooms are arranged to provide maximum distance between desks. • In most classrooms, this is approximately 3 feet between desks/seats.• When furniture and space permits, desks/seats will face the same direction.• Cafeteria Areas will be expanded to include additional locations in the school to maximize distance Staggered

class transitions at High School and Middle Levels.• Elementary Students will eat in the classroom• One-way traffic at the High School level.• No Lockers/Locker Areas used• Classroom Sets of Textbooks provided

Re-opening Health & Safety PlanPlan B: Blue/Red Alternating In-School & Online

Rationale: This plan maximizes Social Distance by reducing the number of students in classrooms, hallways and on buses. But, also reduced by half is the in-school academic experience.

• Students rotate, one day in school, then one day with asynchronous work online at home.• Classrooms are arranged to provide maximum distance between desks.• In most classrooms, this is approximately 6 feet between desks/seats.• When furniture and space permits, desks/seats will face the same direction.• Certain student populations with specific educational needs would attend every day.• Cafeteria Areas will be expanded to include additional locations in the school to maximize distance.• Elementary Students will eat in the classroom• Staggered Class transitions at Elementary and Middle Levels.• One-way traffic at the High School level.• No Lockers/Locker Areas used• Classroom sets of Textbooks provided

Re-opening Health & Safety PlanPlan C: All On-line

Rationale: This plan exists in the event schools are forced to close in September or at any other time during the school year.

• The experience would be similar to Spring of 2020 at the start.• Canvas LMS based• The teachers would manage an asynchronous, 30-minutes a day, lesson in Canvas.• Depending on the duration of the school closure and ability of staff to remain in school

facilities, the Canvas experience will include additional synchronous enhancements.• Depending on the duration, assessments, grading and attendance may need to be added

Re-opening Health & Safety PlanPlan D: Opt-out to Remote Learning

Rationale: For families not comfortable sending their child/children to school under the above plans, we will offer a separate, short-term, remote learning option.

• Core areas Asynchronous Online Courses of Reading/English, Math, Science and Social Studies.• The online courses are independent and separate from the above plans.• Courses will be taught by Neshaminy Teachers using Neshaminy Curriculum.• All Neshaminy services, support, software and activities remain available to students and families• If desired, students will be able to leave this remote learning program at any time of their choosing and return to

whichever plan Neshaminy is offering in-school at the time.• Synchronous options will be added on the same timeline as Plan B & Plan C.• Electives and Special Courses will not be available at the start; instead such courses will be added based on

interest after the Core Courses are successfully established.• Not a long-term/year-long solution. Such options are available but require a year-long commitment to the Opt-out

Re-opening Health & Safety PlanAdditional Modification in the Works

Rationale: Existing timelines and deadlines are almost entirely self-impose by either the District or the Commonwealth. We can alter timelines and deadlines if necessary instead of unnecessarily limiting ourselves.

• Delay the start of school, if students, parents, staff and materials are not ready by September 2.• Stagger the opening of school, grade-by-grade, to provide the time needed to “teach” the new

processes/procedures that students will need to “learn” to facilitate health and safety. • Rework Plan B to assist with family routine Blue on Mondays & Wednesdays and Red on Tuesdays

& Thursdays• Phased Opening Plan by starting with Plan B, Blue/Red Alternating Day, to establish procedural

fidelity and peace-of-mind prior to moving to Plan A, All In, later in the Fall.

Re-opening Health & Safety PlanTransportation/Busing

Background on Normal Bus Runs:• 26 seats on most buses• 50+ at high school level• 60+ at middle school level • 70+ at elementary level

The Plan: • Design and implement one transportation schedule for the entire year that works with both Plan A and

Plan B.• Ask parents to Opt-Out of the Busing if able to provide transportation for their child(ren)• Rebalance Bus Routes to limit capacity to two students per seat
