Passion to protect

According to a report by the Geneva Association, fire insurance claims add up to millions of dollars each year. More tragically, on an average 600 people lose their lives due to fire accidents per year in a country. In order to combat unexpected fire emergencies and save the lives of people and protect high value assets, Naffco installs fire - fighting equipment in buildings and other important work sites. Elitser is a major service partner for Naffco in the Middle East.

The safety equipment must be in perfect working order at all times to continuously serve the purpose during unpredictable emergencies. Naffco strives to deliver on its core principal of 'Passion to Protect' and provide their customers with peace of mind. In order to ensure that the kit is in proper working condition and 100% ready to plunge into action when required, Naffco approached WebNMS for a real - time monitoring solution. Continual monitoring of the kit would ensure its proper working condition. The safety kit is composed of different components such as water pump, water tank, sprinkler hose and diesel generator all of which are connected to a central alarm panel. In case of some abnormality in those components, an alarm goes off. There was no way to proactively monitor the health of components housed in the kit. In the existing set up, an alarm was raised during an anomaly and was registered manually into the ticketing system. There arose a requirement for proactive, real - time monitoring along with automated trouble ticketing system. The solution needed to be highly reliable and cost- effective.

Upgrading from Safe to Safest

Through Elitser, Naffco's implementation partner, WebNMS came on board. The team grasped the problem situation and delivered a working POC within two weeks. Moreover, the solution itself was deployed within 4 weeks of request. The solution was highly robust and cost-effective.

SolutionIntegration and automation

Connecting a partner gateway to the existing alarm panel completed the deployment. The components who's values are to be monitored were already wired to the alarm panel. The outputs (both analogous and digital) from the panel were connected to the IoT (Cloudgate) gateway to monitor all the critical parameters (DC power health, engine valve, section valve, common mode run). Data from the gateway now gets transmitted real - time over an Ethernet or SIM connection. When there is deviance in any of those parameters, an alarm is raised which is immediately translated as an SMS or Email and sent to the concerned numbers and Email ids. Additionally the alarm is integrated into the existing trouble ticketing software automatically. The data accrued from the system is analyzed and reports are generated periodically. This solution has enabled 24/7 active monitoring of the kit, thereby improving the up - time and reliability.
