As a systems director in academic and professional publishing she led the successful implementation of a custom-built enterprise SQL database, replacing more than 100 standalone databases that had grown up across the organisation over many years. She subsequently managed the development, implementation, testing and integration with the organisation’s website, of an ONIX 3.0-compliant bibliographic data management system across the business. is led on to being a speaker at BIC Breakfasts in July and September 2015 on the implementation of ONIX 3.0. Jo is a Director of i-Publishing Consultants Ltd and has recently been involved in testing the new user interface for PKF Littlejohn’s AVATAR Publishing Management System, whose users include Hymns Ancient & Modern, Boydell & Brewer and Pluto Press. [email protected] Rodney Elder, VP Commercial Operations, Virtusales Publishing Solutions Rodney has worked in the publishing industry for over 12 years across North America, Europe and Australasia implementing new technologies to support process efficiency and best practice. Over the past 6 years, Rodney has led the North American Operations in delivering Biblio to various clients including Macmillan US, Harvard University Press and many others. Karina Luke, Executive Director, BIC Karina has worked in the book publishing industry for over 23 years, including 5 years with Dorling Kindersley, followed by 12 years at Penguin UK where she held several supply chain and operational roles, latterly as the Digital and Data Supply Chain Manager. Karina was appointed as BIC’s Executive Director in February 2012 and has been instrumental in its restructure, which has seen the creation of an agile members organisation focused on driving & delivering meaningful change & education across all sectors of the book industry. Previous publishing industry roles have included international sales / rights, customer operations, supply chain and stock management. She has a wealth of operational & data experience in both the physical and digital supply chains and is passionate about metadata and process improvement. Chris Saynor, Metadata Specialist, GiantChairChristopher Saynor works for Giantchair, a company that specialises in metadata solutions for the book supply chain. He has worked for this company since 2008 as the specialist in metadata, looking for solutions to help publishers create, improve, enhance and share the best possible metadata about their titles.

Chris is part of the Giantchair team that created the Onixsuite tool and that implemented ONIX 3.0 for the company. He also actively participates in various metadata groups in

France and the USA. His background is as a librarian and then as a bookseller in the U.K. and in France.

Steve Waldron, Business Development Manager, KlopotekSteve Waldron is a vice president of business development & product marketing at Klopotek North America, one of the world’s leading suppliers of specialized software to the book and journal publishing industries and has just celebrated his tenth anniversary with the firm. Mr Waldron is a frequent speaker at industry forums as well as a contributor to industry publications. He is a graduate of Oxford University and holds a doctorate in computer science.
