    Personal Coaching Philosophy

A football program that the school and community can take pride in can be the single greatestcatalyst for a successful school year and positie community inolementB >t is said that first impressionsare most important if true; then a positie football season goes a long 9ay in determining the success of aschool yearB >t is the organiDation that most students; teachers and community members rally behind 9henit is successful; and can produce the greatest positie impactB >n the communities of 9estern !anoerCounty there has long been a sense of o9nership and pride of our mighty PatriotsB We seek to reignitethese feelings and make the community proudB

The purpose of education is to pass on values Aristotle

As members of the educational community 9e accept this message and beliee that football is oneof the best ehicles to pass on aluesB A good football program is built and based on fundamental aluesB8ur alues of Ecellence; 'iscipline; Confidence and Togetherness are alues that 9e beliee transcendfootball and are necessary building blocks of uality young menB These are alues that society places a ha

We beliee that our alues must be forged; they can not simply be gien by 9ords or simple deedsrather; they must be attained through tireless effort and through sacrificeB The crucible that is the sport offootball is the perfect essel for achieing these aluesB Through un9aering demands; accountability andstruggle 9e beliee that the young men that remain 9ill be the best that C!7 can offer to the 9orldB

Excellence Discipline Confidence - TogethernessEXCELLENCEF The uality of a person"s life lies not in their material possessions; but rather in theircommitment to ecellence; regardless of their chosen field of endeaorB The attainment of perfection maybe impossible; but by seeking perfection through struggle 9e can achiee ecellenceB

DISCIPLINEF According to :ick 7aban; There are t9o pains in life; the pain of discipline; and the painof disappointmentB >f you can handle the pain of discipline; then you"ll neer hae to deal 9ith the pain ofdisappointmentB A team must hae discipline to do its $ob consistently and effectielyB 'uring the mosttrying of times success is still achieed because of the discipline to pay attention to details during practiceB

CN!IDENCEF We must beliee 9e canB Confidence in one"s self and skills 9ill push aside the mostdebilitating of thoughts and feelings G fearB %ear of the unkno9n and fear of change make great menmerely aerageB %ear robs us of our possibilities and potentialB >n education; 9e seek to proide skills toour students for later in life; but if they are fearful; then these skills go unusedB Confidence is createdthrough struggle; by forcing players to oercome their o9n self?imposed barriersB

T"ET#E$NESSF Comes from eeryone 9orking together for the same goal; that goal is moreimportant than any indiidual success or accoladeB *y respecting the goals; principles and alues of theteam; family; and unit; success can be achieed by allB

These are the alues that form the core 9e that build our football programB *ut there are manyother alues that football teachesB %ootball is a sport that if you hae a great 9ork ethic you can deelopthe talent to maimiDe your potentialB Walter Payton; Herry #ice; and Terry *radsha9 are all in the :%+!all of %ame and arguably the best eer at their position yet none of them played at a 'iision > schoolB

We beliee that the $ob of a football coach is to teach the alues that 9ill lead to the path ofecellence and to maimiDe the potential of our student athletesB The same alues that pae the 9ay to

football fortune 9ill pae the 9ay to ecellence in the classroom; the community; and in lifeB Wins andlosses 9ill fade a9ay but the alues 9e hae taught are going to last foreer

    %cade&ics

    I&portance of %cade&ics

Players are student?athletes; not athlete?studentsB Their education is the most important thing that they canobtain in their liesB An academic support program 9ill be deeloped; run; and maintained 9here studentscan receie help in any academic classes in 9hich they may be strugglingB 'eeloping good academicskills and standing are a priority in the programB

    %cade&ic $e'(ire&ents

All football players 9ill be epected to maintain a minimum grade of C at each marking period in each oftheir classesB 'ropping belo9 this threshold 9ill not automatically remoe a player from the program; but9ill possibly lead to decreased playing time; reuired after?school remediation; added calisthenics; etc%cade&ic Coach and $ole of Position Coaches in %cade&ics

All football coaches 9ill take an actie role in the academics of their position playersB An assignedassistant football coach 9ill be responsible for checking all players" grades on a 9eekly basisB Any player9ith a ' or % 9ill be added to a list of players for etra conditioning after practice until the grades arebrought upB Eery Monday; all teachers 9ill receie an email from the head football coach to report anymissing or late assignments; behaior; etcB The head coach 9ill then notify the all position coaches of anyreports of their playersB These students 9ill then be isited by their position coach to remind them of theirassignments and that they should be turned in by the end of the school dayB Any student consistently on thelist 9ill be added to the list of etra conditioning and possibly limited playing timeB

    %fter School T(toring)$e&ediation

Any athlete that reuires etra attention after school is encouraged to see their teacher after schoolB We9ill typically lift as a team immediately follo9ing schoolB 'uring this /5 minute period players are

encouraged to make up assignments; receie tutoring from teachers and complete ma$or assignmentsB

    We are going to be aggressie in our philosophy on special teams; $ust as 9e are on both defense andoffenseB Attacking kickers and punters 9ith disciplined and relentless block schemes; striking the kick andpunt returners 9ith iolence and aggressiely defending our kicks 9ill lead to positie changes in yardage;
