Reading Journal
2017-2018
Welcome to your reading journal
What is life without the joy of reading? The excitement you feel surging inside as you turn a page. The heavenly aroma you inhale as you flip the pages of a newly bought book. The hatred you feel towards the author for ending the book the way she did and not the way you wanted her to.

The magic of reading is that one minute we can be sat in our classroom or at home and the next we can be on our way to Hogwarts, in the woods with Katniss, or experiencing Germany in 1914 with Tommo and Charlie. We get to meet a range of characters and stand alongside them during their adventures and challenges before returning safely to our own arena of comfort. We get to visit beautiful places and go on the most wonderful adventures. Reading is magical.
Yet reading is also a key that can unlock greater success for you. People who read do do better in their exams because they have learnt to deconstruct, to infer. They have absorbed a wider range of vocabulary and can draw upon beautiful sentence constructions that they have come across in their reading. Reading will not only inspire you but it will help you.
Join me in our reading adventure this year and see where reading can take you!
