Todays readings are readings of hope for a future that is bright with promise. Isaiah announces a year of favor from the Lord in which all manner of suffering is soothed. Saint Paul reminds us to rejoice, to pray always and to give thanks in all circumstances. In Johns Gospel, we hear that the Light has come into the world, and it cannot be extinguished. He illumines our darkness with his love and truth. We are able to sit in the darkness with confidence that the Lord is with us.

Please stand... and prepare to receive our Lord in Word and Sacrament...

Please place Parish Petition Book underneath the ambo, and the cantor/music ministers assume responsibility for beginning the gathering song.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

Third Sunday of Advent

For all members of the Church, the people of God, may we strive always to be a reflection of Christs light to all people who seek the Lord...We prayLord, hear our prayer.

For all civic leaders, may there be a greater willingness to resolve disputes nonviolently so that peace may reign on earthWe prayLord, hear our prayer.

For all who are alienated from God and his Church, may they open their hearts and respond to Christ's message of love and healing... We prayLord, hear our prayer.

For this faith community, may our children experience God's presence and grow in their love and commitment to God... We pray Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for our parish concerns and for all the intentions written in our petition book; for all those who are recently ill, especially:

Ramon Hernandez, Gloria Hernandez, Julio Omar Pea, Gary Simdt, Stephani Mattos Arrues, Martha Solorio

And for all who have passed away
