International Medical What is IMO all about? Our Mission The mission of this organization is to provide a means for students to expand their cultural awareness regarding medicinal practices and living standards in countries all over the globe. Our Goals Organize safe and educational trips to other countries where the main focuses will be assimilation into the culture as well as medicinal practice. Organize fundraisers throughout the year to help finance the medical outreach trips. Educate members and the community about medical care In Come out and show your support for IMO! These are our upcoming events: 1. Buckets a. Come help us raise money for our trips! b. Every day in front of the Breezeway by Chick-fil-A (see schedule below). 2. Health Committee Meeting – October 9, 2012 at 6:00 pm in BA 207 a. Join us in preparing for our medical mission trips. We will be going over health education presentations, creating health education posters, fine- tuning our patient assessment skills (blood pressure, lung auscultations, etc.) among much more! This is a great way to get involved in IMO and really learn what it is that we do on the trips we go on. b. These meetings are every Tuesday, same time and place! 3. Our Goals Organize safe and educational trips to other countries where the main

varying cultures around the world. Provide members with experience working with medical professionals in

an unfamiliar environment.

High Schoola. This is our big fundraiser for the year! Profits go to our medical volunteer

trips to Haiti, Peru, and the Dominican Republic! b. The cost is $10 per person and there can be 6 people on a team. You can

IMO has had some fun this semester already! Our previous events from this semester were

Ronald McDonald House – September 23, 2012 from 4-7.We had a great turnout and made some delicious food for the families living in the house. We made salad, pasta, tomato sauce with ground beef, tomato sauce, Texas toast, juice and cookies!

Haiti Interviews:

The December trip to Haiti is approaching! If you would like to attend this trip please fill out an application. We will have applications available on the IMO website, and they will be due Tuesday, September 23 at noon. Please sign up for an interview as well. The interviews will be held Wednesday, September 24, Thursday, September 25, and Friday, September 26.
