Karen Buscemi- Detroit Fashionista

Karen Buscemi knows exactly how to dress and how to write about it. As editor of StyleLine magazine Buscemi tells readers how to give their closet a complete overhaul and helpful advice for what to wear and what not to wear.

Her past job as a freelance writer seemed perfect for her, until another offer came along. She was offered editor of StyleLine magazine. Her passion for fashion and writing combined what more could she ask for? Although she writes about fashion, she only considers that a portion of what she does. Buscemi says, "above all, I'm a writer, and that was something I always wanted to do. What's funny is that I never realized that I could have a career as a writer. Fashion is in my blood. I love getting dressed every day, even if I'm only going to my son's soccer game. Getting to incorporate that love into my writing career is as good as it gets."

Karen has also been on Fox 2, WDIV Local 4 and WXYZ channel 7 many times to discuss Oscar fashion hits and misses, what to wear to charity previews and many other events. She was also starred on John McElroy's Auto-line Detroit discussing how fashion and car design relate. As her job she does commercial and private clients and is signed with and agency out of LA for commercial styling. Her last well known client was Aretha Franklin for a story People magazine covered over the summer.

Some advice tips on how to dress for which occasion come with her job. When asked what to wear for a job interview, Karen said "While you can't go wrong with a suit, I say go a step farther and do five minutes of research on the company. Look at company photos and how the executive dress. If it's a relaxed atmosphere, while I wouldn't show up in jeans and a T-shirt, I also wouldn't get quite so buttoned up. Showing you did your research says a lot about you as a candidate and that includes how you dress."

Karen also says the best way to dress good is to do a complete closet overhaul. This means, making sure everything is in place and accentuates your figure. That will make getting dressed easy. It will also make you look ten pounds lighter. For more tips on fashion follow Karen in StyleLine Magazine.
