Position Description Program Counsellor Schools Title Program Counsellor – School Program (PC) Primary Services Provided To coordinate all aspects of one or more high school programs run by Raise, such as Ismo, Career or Youth Frontiers (‘the Program”). The PC is required to achieve successful outcomes over a 12 month period at the designated school and with each of the stakeholders involved as specified in the Roles and Responsibilities outlined below. Reporting Structure The PC reports to their assigned Program Manager (PM) of Raise Foundation Selection Criteria P Relevant qualification in counselling, youth work, social work, psychology and/or Diploma qualifications in these fields with relevant work experience P An outstanding ability to engage and motivate relevant school personnel, mentees, mentors and other stakeholders (including MPs and corporate partners) to facilitate successful outcomes of the Program P Experience managing groups and group debrief and/or supervision P Experience managing volunteers P Excellent administration skills, ie good communication (written and verbal), organisational skills, record keeping skills P Comprehensive understanding of Mandatory Reporting requirements working with young people P Experience in working with young people required P Minimum of 25 years of age P Ability to meet the minimum requirements for contact with Raise staff team, mentors, schools and all other key stakeholders in the overall program P Willingness to undergo the Raise selection process including appropriate security checks, for example an Employee WWCC, NCC, reference checks as required P Excellent technical skills, ie MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint or the equivalent and cloud based document sharing

Roles and Responsibilities:

P Introduction of the Program to the assigned school/sP Build rapport with the school/s before the Program commencementP Assist to recruit volunteer mentors for the Program as requested by your Program ManagerP Liaise with and support the volunteer Mentors including setting up a mentor database for the

Program, ensuring all screening checks are satisfactorily completed prior to the commencement of the Program and conducting the weekly support session after every mentoring session.

P Conduct information session to mentee group prior to commencement of the ProgramP Act as a positive role model to young people and mentors and actively build rapport with these

and all other stakeholdersP Annual attendance and completion of the Raise Mentor Training Program in the geographical

area of your programP Conduct the Program’s orientation session and the jitters session at commencement of programP Coordinate all required Raise forms for the Program as specified in your PC Manual including

but not limited to the School Partnership Agreement, Letter to Teachers, Parent Consent forms, Mentor-Mentee Match Agreement, Weekly Mentor and Mentee sign-in sheets, evidence of any Civic Engagement project undertaken (if applicable), Individual Weekly Case Management Reports, Beginning and Ending Evaluations and Case Management Summary

P Complete all tasks required in each term’s PC Manual checklist and report on each of these completed tasks to your Program Manager, at the completion of that term.

P Liaise closely with the nominated school staff member and other relevant school contacts including the school’s welfare team

P Match mentees and mentors along with school staff member if requiredP Where the Program has a corporate partner, liaise and communicate with them on the progress

of the Program as requested by the Program Manager and/or Partnerships Manager. This may mean all information on progress is report to a partnerships staff member or your direct manager, not directly with the corporate partner

P Management of weekly mentoring sessionsP Conduct weekly group supervision and counselling debrief of mentors in accordance with the

Raise guidelines provided to you.P Supervise mentee community projects and complete reporting on such projects each term, as

requiredP Maintain roll of attendance of each mentee and mentor P Support and role model good practice for mentors and mentees to complete goals togetherP Coordinate graduation celebration at end of program in line with the Graduation outline

documentationP Respect mentor and mentee dignity and right to privacyP Maintain safety of mentees and mentorsP Build mutual respect and instil trustP Maintain confidentiality and set clear boundaries in line with all Raise PoliciesP Work with other members of the Raise team, and attend at least 2 Raise meetings when

required and P Attend at least one interagency meeting per term per ProgramP Report under the Duty of Care Policy where required, in line with the direction from your

Program ManagerP Operate within guidelines of the Raise Policy ManualP Operate within guidelines of the Raise Program Counsellor Manual

P Participation in the program for a twelve month school year periodP Manage an assigned team of volunteer mentorsP Manage weekly mentoring sessions in term time

meetings per areaP Participation in annual evaluation of Program in line with Raise policyP Participation in performance management reviewP Participation in Raise Program Counsellor Meetings P Consistent and regular updates to your Program Manager, as per the PC ManualP Coordination of the completion of all documentation required in each term’s Program

Counsellor Manual Checklist and submitting it to the Raise office, your Program Manager as required.
