What is going on this week in Early Years and Year 1? Hello Everyone! What a lovely week we had in EY and Year 1. Children in EY have been learning how to make different sounds with a play and real guitar. The also enjoyed the visit from Sophie, who came to play and sing to them on Friday afternoon. Some of our pupils have been relaxing during the session, some have been singing and some playing differed instruments to join our singer. This Monday Sophie will be coming to spend some time with pupils in year 1. The children can’t wait for her visit, and have been making themselves ready for her visit during music lessons, by experimenting with different sounds. This week in Early Years, we will carry on learning about the coldest season of the year. We will start making decoration for school hall, which will go up this Friday. Parents will be able to see all of our work during our school Christmas show. In food tech, we will make snowman out of marshmallow, and we will also explore ice cubes in different colours and see, what will happen when they start to melt. Our friendly bear will teach us how to stay safe in the cold weather. Last week in Year 1 children listened to the story 'Can't you sleep little bear?'. They really loved the torches that we used to create light, so that the teddy bear could sleep when he was scared of the dark. This leads us to learn about light and dark next week. During reflection one of the pupils chose to read a story called 'Mucky Duck' the children found this book very funny, so next week we will do some work around this story. While exploring our winter wonderland one of the children noticed 'Look the ice is making water!', so next week we will look at the changing properties of materials. Oh, we are going to learn a lot this week. Not long to Christmas now. Have a good week
