IRISH HUMOUR
An Irishman was flustered not being able to find a parking space in a large mall’s parking lot.
“Lord”, he prayed, “I can’t stand this. If you open a space up for me, I swear I’ll give up drinking me whiskey, and I promise to go to church every Sunday”.
Suddenly, the clouds parted and the sun shone on an empty parking spot. Without hesitation, the man said, “Never mind, I found one!”
Have you heard the one about an Englishman, a Scotsman and an Irishman stranded on a small island?
One day, they discovered an Arabian looking lamp in the sand. A genie appeared when they rubbed on it, granting a wish for each.
Without thinking, the Englishman wished he was back in London and he was gone. The Scotsman wished he was back in Glasgow and he was gone too.
Feeling lonely and bored, the Irishman wished the two of them would be back on the island. Presto!
Paddy and Murphy are working on a building site.
Paddy says to Murphy, “I’m gonna get the day off. I’m gonna pretend I’ve gone mad!” He climbs up the rafters, hangs upside down and shouts “I’m a lightbulb, I’m a lightbulb!” Murphy watches in amazement.
The foreman shouts: “Paddy, go home. You’ve gone mad”.
So Paddy leaves the site. Murphy starts packing his kit up to leave as well.
“Where do you think you’re going?” asks the foreman.
“Well, I can’t work in the friggin dark!” said Murphy

THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIRPERSON
Hello Everyone
Things have been relatively quiet through February. Unfortunately our shopping bus had to be cancelled due to the lack of a driver. We were all looking forward to the trip as it was our first for 2019, but these things happen from time to time.
We still had things going on in the village. The barbeque which is held on the first Sunday of the month seems to have taken off and everyone who attends seems to be enjoying it. Our Birthday Morning Tea is still a very happy occasion and we also have the weekly Exercise and Movement classes, which although they have only been going for a few weeks, these classes seem to be well attended.
I know a lot of residents look forward to craft days and also Bingo - some even lucky enough to win and go home with a pocket full of money -lucky you.
Cheryl’s Lunch is growing with more people attending each month -Thank you Cheryl it is always very yummy. Footy Tipping will be starting soon with the start of the Footy season quickly approaching, so make sure you get your forms and money into the office as soon as possible.
Our bus trip for February takes us to Ravenswood - This should be a very enjoyable occasion. Theresa has put a lot of organisation into it to make the trip run smoothly. These trips are becoming more popular and our Melville Bus only holds 18 People so when you receive your monthly Calendar and would like to go on the outing please go down to the office as soon as possible with your money and put your name down. Please remember your seat is not saved with your name down only.

The Committee and Residents meeting was held on Friday 22nd February. We were fortunate to have Cheryl, Roger Kwok, and Karen Whittle-Herbert attend our meeting. They all spoke on various things going on in our Village. These will be recorded in the Minutes which will be sent out to you in the very near future.
That is all from me for now. Those going to Ravenswood -“ENJOY “and all of you take care and keep smiling.
Regards,
MargChairperson for Arcadia Waters Bicton.
FOOTY TIPPING
Just a reminder that if you wish to be a part of our annual footy tipping you will need to return your form, issued with last month’s newsletter, together with your payment of $46.00 to the office before Monday 11th March please.
Playing packs will be issued by Friday 15th with the first game being on Thursday 21st March.
Good luck!
LANDLINE TELEPHONES
One last reminder that if you do not sign up for the NBN you will not have a telephone at all come May.
This process takes a few weeks to activate, so if you still have not signed up for the NBN please speak with your families or come see us in the office and we will assist you with this process.

A WORD FROM CHERYL
Hi to all
Another busy month flies by with things still sitting on my to do list, as fast as you think you are getting ahead another item appears.
We did send out a reminder this month about keeping your doors and windows locked. It is far better to be safe than sorry. We are lucky that we do not live in an area with a high crime rate, but that doesn’t mean you need to forget safety.
I think we have now got on top of most of the garden watering issues. I hope now the sprinklers are getting to the plants, however if you do notice any plants looking limp please let me know so I can address the problem. The new garden beside Hammersmith House is looking good with its face lift. Thanks to a number of residents who have noticed and provided such positive feed back. It is always great to hear.
A number of residents have been in hospital of late but I think now all have returned. We all wish you a speedy recovery and hope your health continues to improve.
The Arcadia Group is looking at doing some TV advertising and we are looking for volunteers who may wish to help. If you are interested please let me know and I will put you in touch with Monique.
Books and Gifts direct come to the village every fortnight on a Friday, next collection is Friday 8th March. You will find a number of gifts for yourself and for grandchildren, neices and nephews. Residents can buy throughout the year for birthdays and Christmas gifts which allows you to buy a little every couple of months and assists you with budgeting. There is also another benefit where part of the sale proceeds is donated to the Children’s hospital.
Looking forward to the St Pat’s party this month, hope you will come and enjoy the fun. Please remember when we set the tables up we set for the number we are expecting. Please be accurate with your responses and on time. When we have entertainers, vacant seats is not a good look.

LITTLE BIT OF EGGCITEMENT!
Unfortunately our beloved ‘Egg Fountain’ near Administration was looking a little bit worse for wear. One certain staff member made a suggestion that if the boys got together they could turn him around and then perhaps he would look lovely again.
Although good in theory, when it came time to use the combined muscle power of a few men, our Egg slopped during turning and was left lopsided, completely stuck and very unhappy!
In came a crane to the rescue.
Help, crane!
Very, very slowly

Very, very carefully
Great job boys, well done!

WATER ACCOUNTS
The Water Corporation are now sending everyone’s accounts to us via email. In turn I print them and issue to you.
You can now choose to have your Water Account emailed directly to you instead of receiving a paper copy. The option is also available to have your Council Rates and Arcadia Invoice emailed as well.
Should you wish to have any or all of the above accounts emailed, you will need to fill out the enclosed Email Authority Form and return to me in the office please.
NOISES IN THE NIGHT
Should you become aware of someone you think may be up to no good or you think you hear noises of that nature please call Melville Community Security.
Melville Community Security is there to assist you in regards to these events. They can be contacted on 1300 653 643.
Alternatively, if you think it is an emergency you can contact the police on 131 444 or 000. Remember you can always use your Blueforce Emergency Button too.
Try not to call your neighbours in the first instance as there is usually very little they can do to assist you.
