Dear Dance Art Parents,

Welcome to Dance Art! We hope you have a wonderful experience at our facilities. We will do everything we can to help your child achieve his/her personal goals.

Below is some information that you will need to know. Also, some things you might find interesting!

How long are sessions?We do not have “sessions.” Rather, registration is for the entire 41-week period, from August thru mid-June. Start anytime…withdraws anytime, but we require a two-week notice to withdraw from classes.

What are tuition rates?

How do I drop a class? Go to the front desk and fill out a withdrawal form. We require two weeks notice. Tuition will continue to be charged to your account until two weeks after a withdrawal form is received. Exception: Medical

conditions that are validated by a physician‘s statement. A credit will be issued with the prorated amount based upon the date we receive the written statement (retroactive requests cannot be granted, as it eliminates our opportunity to fill the vacated class spot).

Can I get a refund if my child doesn’t like it? Sure, and if it is your child‘s first class, we will refund all your tuition. After the first class, we issue refunds, provided that you have contacted us in writing and a two-weeks notice. No refunds for missed classes.

Can my child make up a class that he/she missed? Sure!! Just let us know ahead of time so we can make sure there is space available.

Can I drop my child off for classes? We are not equipped to supervise children before or after class. Parents of children unable to safely supervise themselves MUST stay onsite and in sight of their child.

How long has Dance Art been in business? This is our 36th year!! Founded in 1979.

Is there a dress code? Dancers are expected to come to class dressed, in dance attire (leotard and tights) with hair pulled back or up, and the correct shoes for each discipline. Please no street clothes (ex. T-shirts, jeans, basketball shorts, or pajama bottoms).

for class specific and ordering instructions. About Our StaffMichelle Reis, Artistic Director & Owner A 19- year veteran with Dance Art has an extensive background in performance and teaching. Ms. Michelle has performed with the Butler Ballet Company and the Des Moines Ballet Company. She has danced roles in The Nutcracker Suite, Cinderella, Coppelia, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Other musical theater performances include West Side Story, Peter Pan, and The Pajama Game. Ms. Michelle is also a certified ballroom instructor through Fred Astaire Ballroom where she competed and taught. She attended Butler University for dance performance and arts administration.

Annie Bishop, Instructor Started dancing at age three and has been trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and hip hop. She grew up in Eureka dancing at Renee Johnson's Dance Studio. She was a part of Eureka High School Golden Line for four years where she competed in poms, hip hop, mix, and jazz. From there she attended Missouri State University and was a member on Diamond Girls where she choreographed and

danced for the college baseball team, as well as dancing in student and faculty choreographed numbers. Annie graduated in May from Missouri State this May with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing.

Miss Jean, Instructor. Miss Jean has been instructing dance for over 26 years. She holds a Missouri State Teacher Certificate and is certified to teach pre-school thru high school and has taught at the collegiate level as well. Miss Jean is currently the Director of Dance and the Dance Team coach at Ursaline High School. She has choreographed many local high school productions among these are Oklahoma, Bye Bye Birdie, The BoyFriend, and Anything Goes. She also choreographed Garden of Eden and Visions & Voices for the Youth Sing Praise at Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL. Jenny Dyson, Instructor took her first dance class when she was 5 years old and hasn't stopped since then. She has trained in hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap, modern, Irish Step Dance, and contemporary. She trained at Angie's School of Dance, Heavenly Rhythm, and Rena's Dance Unlimited while growing up in Collinsville, Illinois. While in high school she was a member of the State Champion Collinsville High School Dance Team and choreographed for them. Ms. Jenny attended Missouri State University and graduated with a degree in Organizational Communication and dance minor. While at Missouri State, Ms. Jenny performed in faculty choreographed dance concerts in addition to performing and choreographing for student choreographed dance concerts. While in Columbia, she took class and performed with the Columbia Performing Arts Center.

Jessy Dyson, Instructor. Ms. Jessy started her dance journey when she was 5 years old. She has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop, and Irish Step Dance. She trained at Angie's School of Dance, Heavenly Rhythm, and Rena's Dance Unlimited. She performed and choreographed for the Collinsville High School Dance Team and won back to back State Championships. Ms. Jessy graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Organizational Communication and a minor in dance.. Ms. Jessy also kept busy by choreographing and competing dance routines with her sorority. Ms. Jessy was also on the Diamond Girls Dance Team in college and served as captain for two years.. She took class and performed with the Columbia Performing Arts Center during her time in Columbia.

Miss. Judy, Instructor. Miss Judy has danced and taught for many years. She brings enthusiasm into every class and promotes fun! She teaches the fundamental techniques to our beginning and intermediate students.

Miss Laurie, Instructor. Miss Laurie has danced for over 25 years and has taught for 15 years. Miss Laurie just recently graduated with her degree in Physical Education. She has performed and choreographed in many productions including “Cinderella”, The Music Man’ and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”. She was the captain of her poms squad in college. She was a featured dancer in the Saloon Show at

Silver Dollar City and performed with the Sunshine Dance Company. Why do you need my e-mail address?This is a must! SHOWTIME!

Is there a recital? Yes!Dance Art actually has two recitals a year. A mid-year performance in January and our year-end performance in June. Our goal is to provide a fun productions that will entertain everyone.

Of course, participation is optional but strongly encouraged.

Recital and Costume Fees

January Recital and Costume FeesThe January show is a low-key performance. It is

designed to get everyone up on stage and shoo away the winter-blues. There is no dress rehearsal, costumes

are minimal and is a lot of fun.

Participation fee is $10 per dancer due with October 15th tuition.

Tickets are sold for $11 for adults and $6 for children (12 and under.) Dancers do not need a ticket.

June Recital and Costume Fees

June Recital FeeThis fee is used to cover expenses incurred to produce our recital such as the auditorium,

props, scenery, programs.It includes (8) tickets and a (1) Recital Finale T-Shirt (additional tickets and t-shirts may be purchased.) This is

a per family fee of $90. ($10 extra for each additional child)

Costume Fees– More information to follow

Costume Balances are due no later than February 15th

EARN A $20.00 CREDIT!Our best advertising is word of mouth. If you refer

SNOW CANCELLATION POLICY

In case of inclement weather, please call the studio 636.938.5370 or 636.825-2102) about a half-hour before

your scheduled class; or check the website (www.danceartstudios.com).

The decision to close is usually based on local conditions and whether our staff is able to make it to the studio.

Please note that we may be open even if area schools are closed.

If classes are canceled, you may schedule a make-up class on your own at your own convenience.

There are no refunds for snow days.

How do holidays work?If your class falls on one of the following holidays, you

are entitled to a free make-up class that youmay schedule at your convenience:

Memorial DayYou are not charged for any other holidays.
