FAFSA: In order to apply for any type of financial aid, you need to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible.

Scholarships with February and March DeadlinesAFA Teens for Alzheimer's Awareness College Scholarship Discipline: General Award: $250 to $5,000 Requirements: This scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for college-bound students to give thoughtful consideration to the impact Alzheimer’s disease has on their own lives and others in their family and community. Students are required to submit an autobiography and write a 1,200 to 1,500 word essay that answers the following questions: How has Alzheimer’s disease changed or impacted your life?, What have you learned about yourself, your family and/or your community in the face of coping with Alzheimer’s disease? Bank of America - Joe Martin Scholarship Discipline: General Award: $2,500; renewable Requirements: The Bank of America Joe Martin Scholarship program is a competitive based scholarship program available for college or vocational schools to dependents of associates who have been employed by Bank of America for at least 1 year. Dependents of deceased, disabled, or retired associates also are eligible. Black History is Our History Scholarship Discipline: General Award: $5,000-$3,000 Requirements: Choose the African-American you want to write about. It could be someone famous, a relative or a person you know. Just make sure they inspire and motivate you. Ewing Scholarship Discipline: General; lost a parent Award: $1,500 to $5,000; renewable Requirements: The UNT Foundation will manage the account and UNT Faculty Senate University Scholarship Committee will award scholarships to qualified full-time undergraduate students who have lost a parent during that parent’s working years and need financial assistance to attend college. The recipient of a Ewing Scholarship may choose to attend ANY ACCREDITED INSTITUTION of higher education in the US. Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship Discipline: Award: Winner - $3,000 Runner Up - $1,000 Requirements: North Carolina College or University. Foster Care to Success Scholarships Discipline: General Award: $1,500 to $6,000 Requirements: Applicants must have been in foster care for one consecutive year at the time of their 18th birthday OR have been adopted or taken into legal guardianship out of foster care or upon the death of their parents after their 16th birthday OR have lost both parents to death before the age of 18 and not been subsequently adopted or
taken into legal guardianship; Be enrolled in or accepted into an accredited Pell eligible, post-secondary program at the undergraduate level (university, college, community college or vocational/technical institute.); 3. Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Discipline: General, minority students Award: Up to $6,000 per year Requirements: To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must: Be a graduating, minority high school senior; Plan to attend an accredited and approved 4-year institution within the US; Show leadership potential; Demonstrate a dedication to community service; Present evidence of financial need; Be a US citizen; A minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21; and Not possess any college degree. Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) National Scholarship and Awards Program Discipline: General; Creative & Performing Arts Award: varies Requirements: Every applicant must be an active National JACL member at either an Individual or Student/Youth Level, from any ethnic background. Membership applications are available on the website. Applicants must be planning to attend full time at a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the US at the undergraduate or graduate school level in the fall. Entering Freshman applicants must be high school seniors. Creative & Performing Arts applicants cannot be professional artists. Applicants may apply under only one scholarship category. LIFE (Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education) - Life Lessons Scholarship Program Discipline: General; loss of parent Award: $5,000-$15,000 Requirements: Open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, who are between 17 and 24 years of age, have experienced the death of a parent or legal guardian, and are currently enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a college, university or trade school within the fifty (50) United States or District of Columbia. Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF) - Heroes Tribute Scholarships Discipline: General Award: $1,000 -$12,500, plus Requirements: Must be a son or daughter of a Marine on active duty or in the Reserve, or a former Marine. The Scholarship Foundation also provides Heroes Tribute Scholarships of up to $30,000 over four years to children of Marines, and Navy Corpsmen serving with Marines, whose parents have been killed on September 11th, or in combat since September 11, 2001. Two scholarship classes are available, one is automatic and one is competitive. Requirements: Open to children of disabled, deceased, combat, or POW/MIA war veterans. The SECU Foundation "People Helping People" high school scholarship program Discipline: General Award: $10,000 Requirements: The State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) takes an active role in assisting communities across North Carolina and truly believes in “people helping people!” Each North Carolina traditional public high school will receive one scholarship for a senior to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina. Youth Scholarship Discipline: General-Bowling Award: $2000 Requirements: Any senior student in a North Carolina High School prior to the age of 22 (as of February 28th). The SECU Foundation "People Helping People" high school scholarship program Discipline: General Award: $10,000 Requirements: The State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) takes an active role in assisting communities across North Carolina and truly believes in “people helping people!” Each North Carolina traditional public high school will receive one scholarship for a senior to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina. This scholarship recognizes leadership, integrity, and community involvement. Preference will be to students whose parents or guardians and family members are public sector employees who live and work in North Carolina. Scholarship recipients in good academic
standing will be able to receive the scholarship up to a maximum of eight consecutive semesters at the same university. Students selected should not be the recipient of other large scholarships. Union Power Cooperative College Scholarships Discipline: General Award: $1,000 Requirements: Three scholarships will be awarded to outstanding high school seniors planning to attend a 4-year North Carolina-accredited college or university and three scholarships will be awarded to students attending a community college in North Carolina. Students will be chosen from Union Power's 5-county service area in NC, including Union, Stanly, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg and Rowan Counties, and must live in a home served by Union Power Cooperative. Applications are awarded based on 40% financial need, 30% scholastic achievement, and 30% extracurricular activities. United Methodist Women of the Western North Carolina Conference Scholarship Program Discipline: General, church-related Award: $500 to $10,000 Requirements: Various scholarships available.
