1741 – 1824 Collection Amounts Page 1 Dundee 11 th November 1741 Sederunt of the Three Incorporate Trades before mentioned To whitt mason, Sclaiter and Wright Trades within the West Kirk of Dundee their ordinary place of Meatting The Act written on the four preceeding pages (sadly missing) being read in presence of the said Trades they unanimously aggread to the heall Articles therein contained and made choise of David Ramsay Sclaiter in Dundee to be their Collector from this Date till 11 th of November 1742 and appointed each Trade yearly to Choise five Members of their respective Trades and to which fifteen Men to be chosen as said is. the said Trades have power Anually to Choise their Collector whose Accompts they are yearly to Audite and to Subescribe & discharge. But previous to Discharge that said Accompts are yearly to be presented to & read before the said Three Trades. Dundee 11th November 1741Sederunt of the Three Incorporate Trades before mentioned

To whitt mason, Sclaiter and Wright Trades within the West Kirk of Dundee their ordinary place of Meatting

David Ramsay Sclaitor in Dundee. The above Accompt was produced, settled and agreed to as formerly approven by the several Trades themselves in the New Church of Dundee and they found the to accompt to amount to One hundred and seven pounds fifteen shillings Scots of which there was lent Seventy two pound Scots to James Jobson Walker in Dundee, and John Couper Baxter there upon their Conjunct Bill dated 27 March last and the remainder of the said Sum being Thirty five pound, Fifteen shilling is given in by the above Andrew Brown to John Smart now Collector for the saids Trades to be lent out for their behoof.

At Dundee the Fourteenth day of February Seventeen hundred and Seventy yearsWhich day the Accots of Charge & Discharge contained on this and the preceeding pages being examined, settled and agreed to by the Visitors of the Incorporated Trades of Masons, Wrights and Slaters of Dundee they found the same fairly stated and the Ballance due by the before designed Thomas Baillie to be Sixteen pounds sixteen shillings five pence three twelfths Sterling money. Which day. In a Meeting of the Members of the Mason, Wright and Slater Trades of the Burgh of Dundee. In presence of George Yeaman present Dean of Gild of said Burgh. The following Articles and conditions were unanimously settled and agreed to. In order to the effectual Division and recovering payment of any bargains made, already bought or to be bought by the said Three Trades for the use of their several Members vizt;1st. That a Collector is to be annually chosen for uplifting and receiving the prices of the said Meall. And all the Members of the said Three Trades are to attend the Meetings to be appointed by the said Collector when called thereto. Under the penalty of Six shilling eight pennies Scots to be payed by each absent without a relevant excuse.2d. That each Member of the said Incorporation who do not pay heir shares of the said Bargains of Meall peaceably at the terms of payment without putting their Trade to any expence of a process for the same shall thereafter have no share of the said Meall without finding sufficient Caution for punctual payment thereof.3rd. That the money payed or to be payed to the Fund Stock of the said Three Incorporations Shall not be lent to any person without sufficient Caution.

At Dundee the Fourth day of April one thousand Seven hundred & Eighty seven yearsWhereas the Burgesses & Members of the Borough of Scotland associated for procuring redress of the Grievances to which they are Subjected by the present Arbitrary & unconstitutional modes of Electing their Magistrates & Council are now prepared to lay their grievances before Parliament. and whereas it has been proposed that Delegates from the Boroughs should be sent to London jointly to assist in Conducting and forwarding the intended application to Parliament. therefore W the Three United Trades of Masons, Wrights and Slaters of this Borough at a meeting held in the old Church this Day Do Nominate and Authorize Mr William Bisset Merchant in Dundee to Act as Delegate for us and to concur and Co-operate with the Delegates of the other Boroughs in all legal & Constitutional measures that may be proposed and adopted for accomplishing the ends above mentioned. And we Appoint James Nicoll our Collector to sign an Extract of this Delegation. We also vote Twelve Guineas to be paid in to Mr William Bisset towards defraying the Expence of the intended Application to Parliament. Six Guineas thereof to be paid from the Conjunct fund of the Three Trades & Two Guineas from the separate funds of each of the Three United Trades. and thereby Authorize the Collector and Deacons to make there payments accordingly.
