EARLY YEARS EXPANSION UPDATE (3) – 8 th March 2019 1140 sites - Now that the sites delivering 1140 from August 2019 have been identified we are developing project teams to support the settings. Members of the project teams will be making contact shortly to discuss the plans for your setting. We have also developed ‘ELC Expansion Information for Settings Delivering 1140 Hours’ and ‘All You Need to Know about ELC Expansion’ for parents and carers to support the implementation of 1140 hours. As we move into Phase 2 of trialling 1140 hours we want to ensure we keep everyone updated around plans and appreciate your understanding that we are still at a ‘trialling’ stage. We are aware that the 1140 sites were not included on the enrolment form and are currently working with Digital Services to ensure this and partner inclusion is resolved by enrolment for 2020. Outdoor learning - We have developed an Outdoor Learning Action Plan that includes a training plan to support staff to feel confident around delivering ELC Outdoors. This document will be downloaded onto Glow shortly. Launch of Out to Play document- The ‘Out to Play’ document developed by Inspiring Scotland is now ready to be launched and we are fortunate that the launch will take place at the Nursery within Dingwall Primary School on Monday 25 th March. Additional Graduates Northern Alliance meeting - Kathleen Johnstone and Jo Shirriffs, the ELC Leads for the Northern Alliance, will be leading on a day bringing together all 22 Additional Graduates from across the North. This meeting is taking place in the Archive Centre in Inverness and will be an opportunity for Highland Graduates to meet up and share good practice with colleagues from across the Northern Alliance. Partnership Sub Group - This group is currently working on finalising a Position Statement on Partner and Local Authority Collaboration and this should be available for circulation in early April. Grant Aid a pplications - We have developed a grant aid application process and the application form will be sent out to partners on week beginning 11 th March with a closing date on 31 st May 2019 for applications. This will be a one-off opportunity to apply for funding to support expansion and there is an expectation that partners will have explored other funding avenues too. We are currently working with Business Gateway around support for partners and will update you on this when we have more information. The form outlines the processes for making an application and all applications will be reviewed by a panel in early July. Primary Head Reps Expansion Sub Group – This group met on 7 th March to look at non-contact time and how this will be effectively utilised as we move forward to delivering 1140 hours. There is an ongoing piece of work and final proposals will be shared at the next Primary Head Reps Group meeting at the end of May. Contacting the team- The generic email boxes are now up and running and we would encourage you to contact the team via the most appropriate mail box. [email protected] [email protected]
