The Great Mosque of Timbuktu is not only a great example of architecture, but of mathematics and engineering. In addition, a society would need to have strong

organization to put the project together. Without strong leadership the mosque would not be built nor maintained. Furthermore, the mosque was a hub of a very sophisticated trading network that received goods and merchants from all over the known world.
