World war 2 - Plane art Art on planes was used extensively in World War 2 by both sides. Soldier’s did this for a few reasons. First, it gave a chance to be an individual in a military that only allows uniform order. Many also believed it provided good luck to have a plane that was named and had an emblem on its side. Plane art was not officially regulated but was rarely disciplined. Regardless of the reason, many found it to be an escape from war. While the majority of plane art consisted of pin-up girls, for our project we will focus on the other designs. These designs were generally cartoon in nature, featured a popular character or animal and included some sort of intimidating or humorous message. For your own art you will be required to promote a nation through your artwork and the name of your aircraft. You may hand draw or digitally create your art but you will be required to present it and discuss your choices. Depending on the level of effort required in your design, you may need to create more than one panel. Discuss this with your teacher. Rubric: (see teacher for details) Explanation through presentation: /10
