We can now access our reading books using the Oxford Owl website - https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/ I will put a list on our class page with your names and a link to a book for you to read. Read for 30 minutes every day. This is really important and will help your imaginations and vocabulary SO MUCH! If you’ve finished your reading book then find something else. It could be a magazine, newspaper, website, game instructions or a favourite book from home. Remember you could read to a sibling or have family reading time. Get the duvets out, build a den and have bedtime stories at any point in the day! English Prince Cinders is a fantastic book, today I would like you to watch the book by clicking on this link - https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=jPCobrg78Yc Are there any similarities between this story and another traditional tale we know? Are there any differences between this story and another traditional tale we know? Do you prefer this version? Why? Can you tell a family member what you like about this story and what you don’t like? Today can you watch this version of the Three Little Pigs https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=GqV0V6bV9ZA Have you guessed by now that this week we are looking at Twisted Traditional Tales? That means they are the traditional tales we all know and love but with a twist. What are the similarities between this story and the Three Little Pigs story we know? What are the differences between this story and the Three Little Pigs story we know? Do you prefer this version? Why? Can you tell a family member what you like about this story and what you don’t like? Today I’d like you to search for your own Twisted Traditional Tale. It is really important you are using the internet safely whilst you do this and you work with an adult , there are lots of different Twisted Traditional Tales if you search that into YouTube. Complete your own research and find one you like. Can you write down what you like about it? Why do you like the twist that the author has made to the traditional tale? I would love it if you sent me pictures of you carrying out this research! Send you pictures or your work to - [email protected] o.uk For our Big Writing task this week I want you to write your own Twisted Traditional Tale. Can you plan your writing today? Think about the title of your tale, will it be similar to the original tale? Will it give a hint to the twist in your tale? (One of my favourite twisted tales is called The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig – can you guess the twist from that tale?) Paragraph 1 should introduce the story, the characters and the setting. Paragraph 2 should be full of action, like when the three little pigs build their houses or when the evil stepsisters are horrible to Cinderella and make her clean the house. Paragraph 3 should have a problem – will your problem be similar to the original tale you are being inspired by or a very different problem? Paragraph 4 should be the final paragraph of your story. This will have the stories ending, will your problem be solved in this paragraph or will the problem continue FOREVER? Brilliant Big Writing Friday Yesterday you planned your very own TWISTED TRADITIONAL TALE! Today you are going to write it, I can’t wait to read them please send me some pictures of your work. Try not to forget your paragraphs you should really be using them at this point in Year 3 now (I want Mrs Snee and Mrs Pierpoint to see your AMAZINGLY organised writing.)
