Due to continued expansion and the merger of smartboxx into CamdenBoss Ltd, we are seeking several driven and enthusiastic Design Engineers to join our busy design and development team. This Design Engineer position is aimed at a college or university graduate with a minimum of 1 years’ work experience, or equally a person with 3 years’ engineering work experience seeking to expand their career. Working from design briefs to create solutions for new products that are innovative, practical and suitable for manufacturing through both on site production and outsourced services. Desirable skills for this role include: Creative flare and technically minded. Understanding sheet fabrication, plastic materials, CNC machining and NC programming and/or injection moulding part design and tooling principles. Machine build design, along with hand building complex or intricate assemblies. Communication skills suitable for; dealing with customers, suppliers, skilled and semi-skilled staff. Familiarity with electronic, electrical and IT components. Essential skills for this role include: Attention to detail, self-motivated and project management skills. Good 2D & 3D CAD skills. Being able to multitask, working to both set and moving deadlines. An excellent work ethic, a drive to succeed, able to work alone and alongside others. Possible duties covered by this role include: Taking product specifications and concepts from Technical Sales or the NPI (New Product Introduction) team and carry-out detailed ‘ready-for-manufacture’ product design and 3D CAD work. Consulting with internal and external customers during development process, to evolve specification and ensure design approval is reached, before either; CNC programming for efficient machining and fabricating prototyping enclosures (in-house manufacturing) or outsourcing within UK and worldwide for injection moulding, casting or extruding. Preparing information ready for production and sourcing; generating full sets of part and assembly production drawings and updating operation and BOM details on MRP and CRM systems. Training will be given in all required software packages, with opportunities given for development within all divisions of CamdenBoss; including smartboxx core and enclosure projects, complete IoT solutions and products carrying CamdenBoss’s own IP, into high-spec medical designs, Apple compatible products and electronic components.
