REPORT OF 2014-2015

ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION

The Botany association was inaugurated by Dr.Baby Joseph ,Head, R&D Nagarjuna Ayurvedic centre Kalady on 29.09.2014 . He gave a talk on medicinal plants. Manuscript magazine “blossom” was released and students planted herbs in Nagarjuna herbal garden on the same day.

NATIONAL SEMINAR

UGC sponsored One day seminar was organized on the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda  on the Topic“VIVEKANANDA ON WOMEN'S EQUALITY-CONTRIBUTIONS OF A MAJOR THINKER” It was inaugurated by Swami Swaroopananda, Head of the Adwaithashramam, Aluva on 29.10.2014

NATURE CLUB ACTIVITIES

A nature camp was organized at “Mangalavanam” bird sanctuary.A talk was taken by Mr. M.I.Varghese, (IFS), Retd. Dy. Conservator of Forest. Essay & painting competitions were conducted on 30.01.2015. Quiz competition was conducted on 09.02.2015. Institute visit :to CMFRI was also organized. One day seminar on organic farming for women was organized by Lotus nature club, Botany dept and Kerala action force. Technical session was given by Ms. Reji Antony of C-SIS wing, CUSAT (OSAX member) on 12th Feb 2015.Seed distribution to the public and students was also organized.

STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

In association with NGO ,plan@earth interactive session with foreign students were organized.

OSAX

Financial assistance was given for house construction at Aluva in association with Kerala action force. -The students put up an ORGANIC VEGETABLE stall during Osax fair

ACADEMIC WEEK CELEBRATION

A talk by Dr. T. V. Sajeev, scientist E1, KFRI, Peechi was organized on Jan 29th, 2015.

CAREER GUIDANCE

Career guidance was given by Mr. Kiran ,Research World, Ernakulam for final year Degree students

STUDY TOUR

A two day study trip was organized for 3rd DC students to Kodaikanal. . A visit to Agriculture University Mannuthy was also organized.

PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN

PAARISTHITHIKAM

It is a project funded by Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Kerala .It was inaugurated by Mr.Soji Thomas (Sub engineer, KSEB Aluva) and Mr.Russel (Assistant Engineer, KSEB Aluva ) on 13th Feb 2015 by giving LED bulbs to the Principal Rev.Sr.Reethamma. Competitions on poster making ,collage and painting were conducted.

EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

Saplings of Cabbage and Cauliflower were distributed to students.Seeds were distributed to students and seeds were planted in Madhavapuram colony in association with IQAC and NSS.

BIODIVERSITY CLUB

Biodiversity club, affiliated to biodiversity board, Kerala is formed and its activities shall begin once the fund is received.
