John 1:14 CEB Oh the sound of rain outside my office windows and exterior door. The rain that’s been falling for over 24 hours, sometimes gentle, sometimes heavy. Rain falling upon a ground that has been suffering from some drought over the past few months. It was not a severe drought, but one showing lower water tables in the Trinity River and nearby lakes and canals. Some of us praying for rain with some of us echoing, “I’m singing in the rain. Just singing in the rain.” Now we find our tune changing to, Creedance Clearwater singing, “Who’ll stop the rain?” But even in our cries of joy and concern about the rain, I am reminded of the goodness of the rain of God’s grace us. Read: John 1:1-14

The Word became flesh       and made his home among us.

We have seen his glory,       glory like that of a father’s only son,

full of grace and truth. John 1:14 CEB

Oh the sound of rain outside my office windows and exterior door. Just singing in the rain.” Now we find our tune changing to, Creedance Clearwater singing, “Who’ll stop the rain?”

But even in our cries of joy and concern about the rain, I am reminded of the goodness of the rain of God’s grace us. How God showers us with the fullness of His grace through the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ, Incarnate. This rain reminds me of what Todd Agnew writes in a revised rendition of an old favorite hymn he now titles “Grace Like Rain:”

Amazing grace, how sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like meI once was lost but now I'm foundWas blind but now I see so clearly

And hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on meAnd hallelujah, and all my stains are washed awayAnd hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on meAnd hallelujah, and all my stains are washed awayThey're washed away. (You can listen and watch at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gb3nO2jDpQc )

Yes, it’s the rain of His grace that opened blind eyes to see more clearly; that saved a wretched, sin-filled human being; that found the lost sinner, bringing hope and eternal life. Yes, it’s the rain of the one full of grace and truth that rains on us, and cleanses our stains, refreshes our parched lives, restores our love relationship with God.

As I look over my life, I see the constant rain of Grace upon me, even when I put up my umbrella to deflect the rain away from me, a life in Christ is the constant, never ending rain of His grace and truth. Hallelujah, grace like rain!

How about you?

Prayer: Rain on me your grace, Lord Jesus. Amen

Grace and peace,

THANK YOU!

I want to say thank you to all the people who helped with the Valentines, cards, cookies, and candies. It is so sweet of you all. Thank you so much FUMC. God be with you.

Love,

Karen SloatDear Friends,

Thank you for all the wonderful cards and treats you sent me on Valentine’s Day! There were so many and they all made me feel loved and special. I am very blessed to know that you still care so much for me even though I am no longer able to attend services. I am especially grateful to have the support of such wonderful friends to help me through the holidays when I seem to miss Jim the most. I miss you all very much and I appreciate your thoughtfulness!

With much love,

Boosh Brown

Mission Possible Kids made Valentines that were delivered to patients at Children’s Hospital in Dallas who are stuck in the hospital for serious and sometimes long-term

illnesses. The children shared their creative talents and enjoyed making the unique cards, especially because they could use glitter and hot glue.

Mark your calendar (July 9-13) for this summer’s exciting Vacation Bible School. We are already working on great ideas and gathering supplies to help this be the best event ever. Please contact Bonnie Jones about volunteer opportunities.

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held after worship service on Palm Sunday, March 25th. For those who are able, we would appreciate your donation of pre-filled eggs, candy and trinkets. There will be a box in the foyer for donations.

Blessings

Ms. Bonnie

FUMC REFUGE YOUTHWell this month has been full of fun activities and talks.

A few weekends ago we spent a few freezing days out at Bridgeport for our Mid-Winter Camp. We took 11 youth out for a time of fun, fellowship, and learning. It was an amazing time of growth not only for our youth but for me personally getting to spend a great deal of time hanging out with our youth.

Last Monday, we had our first high school hang out of the spring and had an awesome time walking around down town taking photos and hanging out. Please be in prayer for our program as we get ready for our first “mission experience” coming up the week of spring break! Be asking God for a mighty work to be done in and through our youth!
