Hillcrest Happenings!! December 18 – December 22, 2017 CURRENT EVENTS NJHS NJHS has adopted a family that is currently experiencing significant economic difficulties. This family is a family of 6. There are 4 children: a 12 year old boy, a 10 year old girl, a 7 year old boy and a 2 year old boy. In order to help support this family, NJHS will be raising money before school next Monday-Thursday in front of the office. Our goal is to raise $600 ($100 each core). In order to add some fun, we will be raising the money by cores and having a friendly competition to see which core can raise the most money. The core that raises the most money will officially earn the title of the "Kindest Core on Campus" and will earn the Golden Bee. While we added the competition element for fun, we really want to stress that our main goal is to raise money to support this wonderful family! Thank you in advance for any help you can provide to support this very deserving family! SPORTS After a hard fought season, your 7th Grade Boys BB team is the North Valley Middle Level Champions. The boys won an exciting game, 34-30, over Desert Sky Middle School. Congratulations! Wednesday (12/20): 8th Grade Boys Basketball Championships @ Talking Stick Arena vs. Diamond Canyon Game starts @ 7:00 pm ** Also, we will be having a 'spirit bus' for students to travel to the game. Any student who wishes to go to the game on the bus, must have field trip permission signed and returned to Mr. Greaves by the end of school (Tuesday, 12/19). ACTIVITY AND SPORTS PHOTOS

Our Classroom Community… Online!

What a wonderful community of learners we have in our classroom this year! I’m so excited to help

our students learn and grow. I have registered our classroom on DonorsChoose.org, an amazing

website where individuals can contribute to public schools. Throughout the year, I will post requests

for resources that will help make your child’s time at school even more engaging, dynamic, and

enriching.

My ProjectMy students are in need of Weighted Slam Balls. The Weighted Slam Balls will provide my students with the opportunity to perform a total body workout. The materials will allow them to have a versatile workout while building muscular strength. Slam Ball workouts are fun, varied and never boring. In addition, the students will be performing explosive movements which use Type 11 muscle fibers which will increase muscle size and definition.

The donations for this project will improve my classroom by providing another station for students in our Fitness Room. The Slam Ball workouts will provide students with powerful workouts which will help them expend more energy and burn more calories in a short amount of time."

The workouts will help students increase muscle mass, which burns calories from fat stores all day long. They will also have the opportunity to strengthen their tendons and ligaments, making the joints tougher and less susceptible to injury.

If you would like to make a donation to my project please click on the link below.

Our annual Spring Fling will be here before you know it! Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 15th . . . we are looking for vendors and crafters to set up tables during the event. More info to come in January!

We work together all year long to find ways to connect to our community. We have many opportunities for you to offer your support through partnerships, advertising, and the donation of supplies or cash. Please contact Denise Parrino with any questions or to see how you can join in to connect our community with education and don’t forget to link your FRY’s card to Hillcrest!

CAFETERIACafeteria Manager: Renee FlaglerContact: [email protected]

Falcon Café:Attention students:Remember to be considerate and pick up your trash for the later lunches so they too can enjoy a clean dining area. Thank you.

An urgent message to parents from the cafeteria,Because of a new policy Food service implemented, we can no longer communicate with your students concerning the balance of their lunch accounts. Unfortunately this has created some very high negatives because we feed our students no matter what their balance. EZSchoolpay is available on the district website and costs nothing to create an account, which allows you to track what your students are spending and to set a low balance alert on your email. Some of you have communicated your having trouble creating accounts. Here are a couple of tips to help if you’re having trouble.1. Make sure your using the same name you registered your student under. For

instance if they are a Jr. or the I, II, or III, or a hyphenated name then you must use that when you go to find your child in the system.

2. Check to make sure you have the right account number. 3. Call your cafeteria manager and he or she can help you by getting in contact with our

EZSchoolpay specialist.4. You can email EZSchoolpay and they will answer your questions as soon as possible
