INTRODUCTION OF SAHARA DEVELOPMENT
FOUNDATION (SDF)
A group of human rights activists with deferent social and political backgrounds established “Social Action for Human rights Advocacy, Research and Advancement (SAHARA) in 1999. The organization has been formally registered under Societies Registration Act XXI, 1860 as non-government organization.
It works for rural deprived communities on a value of respect to human rights with emphasis on advocacy, supporting grassroots collective initiatives, human and institutional development; empowering them to pursue their own development plans, negotiates its implementation with all tiers of governance and also demonstrates ways they can take independent initiatives to enhance their well-being.
Organizational programmatic framework seeks to strengthen social, political and economic asset base of the local communities also empowering them to creatively interact with public and private institutions and influence them to formulate pro-poor policies and regulatory frameworks with an aim of achieving the goal of sustainable development.

Programs: Following the thematic development foci, programs have been carried out by the organization since its inception with an approach to enable disadvantaged to negotiate for their rights as equal citizens. Following is a brief description, categorized in Democracy and Governance, Human Rights and Sustainable Livelihood.
Carried out community mobilization campaign in rural areas of Haripur District, capacitated them for their sustainable livelihoods and participatory collective actions. Also assisted community organizations providing them with technical support in social services delivery, natural resources management, participatory infrastructure development and enterprise development.
Carried out Human Rights Education Program (HREP) for people’s organizations and Labor Rights Education Program (LREP) for the male and female industrial workers of Haripur in order to inculcate people responsive environment, with active involvement of Local Govt. representatives from all tiers of newly emerged Local Govt. System (LGS) with a view to capitalize potential space created under LGS approaching the bottom to top pro-poor policy formulation.
Advocacy and protection on Human Rights, through locally established Human Rights Core Group (HRCG) is being carried out in order to ease Human Rights survivors with their legal and moral support and to promote respect for human rights through sensitization of general

masses, civil society, political leadership and Govt. Line Agencies (GLAs), through conducting study circles, advocacy seminars and Voter’s Education Program.
Emergency Response Program for IDPs was a self initiative project of SAHARA under which SAHARA played leading role in supporting IDPs from SWAT with providing them with food, shelter, health facilities, hygiene kits, daily use utensils, bedding and clothes. Out of 3500 IDP families registered in Haripur, SAHARA supported up to 700 families with providing mentioned services.
ON-GOING PROGRAMS:
1. Promotion and Protection of Labor Rights in Haripur (PPLRH):
PPLRH aims to empower women and men industrial workers of Hattar Industrial Estate (HIE) enabling them negotiate for their rights. With financial support of Norwegian Human Rights Fund (NHRF) SAHARA is capacitating potential labor leaders and awareness raising amongst the workers regarding national and international labor rights charters along with providing legal support for labor rights violation victims. A Labor Resource Center has also been established to facilitate workers in attaining their various entitled benefits. Labor Rights Advocacy is one of the important components of the project under which collective issues of workers being highlighted through organizing seminars, press conferences and other advocacy tools involving media, political leadership, civil society and other stakeholders.
2. Democratic and Civic Rights Education Program (DACREP):
Core objective of the project is to Empowering women and socially excluded groups of Haripur District to exercise their democratic and civic rights in an informed and collective way. SAHARA striving to build the capacity of local leadership and institutional mainstreaming, enhance participation of deprived communities in electoral process, policy advocacy for people’s centered accountability of concerned govt. institutions for improved services delivery. DECREP is project, being financially support by KIOS (The Finnish NGO for Human Rights) contributing in strengthening grassroots democracy in Haripur.
3. Inclusive Revival of Education and Child Protection (IRECPC):
Responding to the devastating flood in Pakistan has destroyed almost 30% of the country’s resources’ and displaced hundreds of thousands of poor people. SAHARA

Development Foundation started its interventions for the revival of primary educational system in Charsadda.
SAHARA in collaboration with Terre Des Hommes, Germany initiated the mentioned project. Key components of the project include repair/renovation of damaged school buildings, group toilets, water supply systems as well as provision of furniture, uniforms and schoolbags for children. Formation of child protection committees, child councils and a citizen action forum for child rights are the soft components of the project. Flood distressed children are being provided with psychosocial support as well. Capacity building of teachers and communities on human & child rights, child protection are also the core components of the project. Children are also being educated on child rights, child protection and life skills aiming to develop resilience of children against potential hardships of life and to better respond any future disaster.
ORGANIZATIONS AND NETWORKS
SAHARA is a member organization of various local and National level networks striving to integrate development efforts and building synergies to uplift disadvantaged sections of the society on sustainable basis. Organizational representation falls in the following networks.
Sarhad Coordinating Council (SCC): A provincial level network of Civil Society organizations of NWFP; based on the values system of promoting Democracy, Human Rights, Peace and Interfaith/Intercultural Harmony.
Haripur NGOs Forum (HNF): SAHARA is one of the pioneer organizations of HNF; the forum is a district level network aims to collectively advocate, mitigate and tackle Human Rights violations.
Joint Action Committee (JAC): is a national level network established by some national level organizations, SAHARA is one of the member organization of the network as subsidiary of South Asia Partnership Pakistan (SAP-PK).
South Asian Alliance against Poverty Eradication (SAAPE): is a regional alliance comprising of national and regional level non-profit organizations from within SAARC regional countries. SAAPE advocates for the socio-economic rights of the deprived communities of south Asia region, especially the SAARC members countries.

1- Board of Governors (BoGs):
Seven (7) members of BoG representing private sector, communities and academia and mainly entrusted with policy level functionaries with need based support to SAHARA’s management in implementing its aims and objectives; designing policy guidelines.
2- Advisory Council:
Advisory Council of the SAHARA is responsible for provision of implementation Guidelines and set monitoring and evaluation parameters aiming to achieve set objectives of the projects / programs, facilitates BOGs in policy making.
3- Secretariat:
Secretariat is the responsible for the execution of program activities to achieve set objectives following the policy guidelines at programmatic level.

EXISTING SYSTEM
The existing system totally works manually and no computerized data is available. Nature of the problem in the manual system is the administration could not keep track on the basis of each client and information related to him.
No clear picture of the system. The system does not generate any reports that can help management in decision-making;
Problems arise with audit for records. Also reaching certain decision on the basis of certain information from the present information from the present manual system is difficult.
REDUNDANCY OF DATAWhile analyzing the current system, it has been found that the current system has been an excessive amount of data redundancy. It is exhibited by the common sets of records across several manually kept registers.
INFLEXIBLE DATAData is stored in current system in such a way that it is not in a very useful from and thus cannot be used in many ways easily.
INACCURATE DATABecause the current system cannot enforce the data validation in a meaningful manner, employees often and store data inaccurately I-e they often do not fill some fields in registers or fill them with inaccurate data.
DELAYED INFORMATIONBecause data is stored and processed manually, so when reports and other sort of information is needed, it takes a long time to process the data and find needed information, thus wasting time and delaying information to concerned people.
WASTE OF TIMEBecause manual data handling and processing activities take too much time, therefore, large amount of time is wasted, which must be spent in doing some other useful work.
LACK OF STANDARDSCurrent time does not define any standards for working with data, that’s why data is not stored uniformly.
STATIONARY USAGESystem currently manages data manually that consumer’s stationary, which it some extent increases daily expenses.

PROPOSED SYSTEMTHE MAJOR COMMON DRAWBACK OF THE EXISTING SYSTEM IS THAT THE RECORDS ARE KEPT IN DIFFERENT PLACES.Due to the manual system the computerized system is main goal of the project. Computerized system must be enabling to over come the deficits of present system.
The existing system totally works manually and no computerized data is available. Nature of the problem in the Manual System is the administration could not keep track on the basis of each client and information related to him.
FEATURES OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEMFollowing are the main advantages of the proposed of the proposed system:
USER-FRIENDLY INTERFACEOur proposed system has a very user-friendly GUI (Graphical user interface).Nearly every action/command can be activating by just one clicking one clicking a mouse button.
EASE IN DATA ENTRYTo make the proposed system more reliable and efficient, data entry procedures are made more systematic and user-friendly. To accomplish this we have design and developed data entry forms (consists of different aware controls, menus), data validation routines and error handling errors.
EASE IN DATA RETRIEVALUpdating of data record is very important facility of proposed system. While in the proposed system, retrieval of data made is easier and reliability giving more power to the user like record search facility, edit facility etc.
EASE ON UPDATINGUpdating of data record is very important facility of proposed system. If any change is made in the record of client then the record will be update in only one place, because there will be automatic changes the related data in order places.
MENU DRIVEN/ MOUSE-DRIVEN APPLICATIONThe proposed system is fully a menu driven software, from very beginning to far end.
Security
The proposed system is fully secure. As it contain login form. Which keep the system from unauthorized people?

FEASIBILTY ANALYSISThe system is smartly feasible for the client. No extra hardware or special software is required for the system implementation. The system can be implemented at all windows platforms. Maintenance cost is very slow.
TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY ANALYSISLRCD can be easily installed on window operating system and does not required any run time environment and no additional hardware is required software easily run on Pentium 4 computers which are available and feasible to adopt for the management of Sahara. This system has enough capabilities to help the user friendly interference.
OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY ANALYSISLRCD software responds quickly to user requests or quires. It responds to user with in two second on average to user quires. Forms contains menu items, menu bars, validity checks are provided on forms so that to avoid invalid data entries.
ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY ANALYSISEconomically the LRCD software is less expensive as it requires the low training cost; no experts are required for the software maintenance it runs efficiently by the Sahara. The new systems provide many benefits to users like easy data entry easy processing of data etc.
SCHEDULE FEASIBILITY ANALYSISThere is no time constraint to built LRCD software from Sahara.

USER INTERFACE DESIGNAfter extensive prototyping and modeling following user interfaces for new system have been designed to functionality to be provided and user preferences.
RAD (Rapid Application Development) environment i.e. Visual Basic 6.0 is being used in the construction and evaluation of user Interfaces.
