Stroud Book Festival, new appointments

Paul McLaughlin, Festival Director

Paul McLaughlin is a freelance musician, teacher and cultural professional based in Stroud.

As a musician, Paul has worked with theatre companies and ensembles all round the UK. As a theatre manager, he has produced and presented festivals and events covering books, music and films. He is currently working as Musical Director

with Cheltenham Operatic and Dramatic Society, City of Bristol Brass Band and is project manager for Surtaal Symphony, an exciting new work for brass band, Bhangra band and soprano.

Caroline Sanderson, Artistic Director

Caroline Sanderson is a Stroud-based author and freelance books journalist.

Associate Editor of book trade magazine, The Bookseller, she is also the magazine’s non-fiction expert. The author of five non-fiction books of her own, including ‘A Rambling Fancy: In the Footsteps of Jane Austen’; and ‘Someone Like Adele', Caroline also co-hosts a monthly book club on BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

Jane Churchill, Children’s Artistic Director

Jane Churchill is a freelance children’s book consultant and has worked with children’s books in one way or another virtually all her life. She directed the children’s programme for the Cheltenham Literature Festival for 17 years and now programmes events for several festivals and is a fiction advisor for French publisher, Gallimard Jeunesse.
