Teaching a virtual class for ONLC is a pleasure and very easy to set up for yourself as an instructor. Below are the key pieces you will need to get started. I realize these are pretty detailed, for that I apologize, but it helps even one person, then GREAT. Teaching a virtual class for ONLC is a pleasure and very easy to set up for yourself as an instructor. Below are the key pieces you will need to get started. I realize these are pretty detailed, for that I apologize, but it helps even one person, then GREAT.

The Email from Ann Lake

On or about Thursday of the week before you teach your class, Ann Lake ([email protected]) will send you a valuable document that will outline class information. (see below what it looks like):

Personally, I created a special folder for this in outlook so that during the class, I can open it and use it for class info and to create my roster. Then, I am very diligent in deleting the week before email. Each week, I only keep the current email in that folder.

There are two links which are critical in the email.

The first:

Here is the link to the roster for your class next week. Please download, fill it out and fax (302-225-4477) or email a scan back to us after class has begun.

https://www.onlc.com/scripts/roster.asp?number=A207780717&cc=ONLINE&i=PARKMJ&print=Y

We often need this to get paid so it's very important for us to get this from you... i.e. so that you can get paid - :)

You should go to the above link, copy and paste into a Word document and take attendance in your class by placing an “X” next to those that attended and for those that didn’t, either leave blank or write “no show” next to their names.

This roster should be sent to [email protected] AND [email protected] on the first or second day of your class. YOU MUST SEND IN THE ROSTER TO GET PAID!!!

The second critical link in the email is the last link:

This link will show the system generated connection info for your class:https://www.onlc.com/liveevtsprn.asp?sh=XTBM10ONLINEMJParker(VIRT)2469

This is the one you will need to connect to the meeting with your Jabra. If you are using a phone instead, then you will just call into the meeting with the phone number listed on the page at the top.

This is SO much easier with a Jabra, because you can just click the link (will discuss later).

Either way, keep it so you can open it and leave it open in a browser the entire time you teach a class. Students will ask for info from it if they decide to take class from home and it contains all the machine info, phone numbers, meeting ID, etc.

*****You have TWO machines set up for you at GOTOMYPC if you cannot connect to these machines, they may not be set up yet for class. Normally, the machines are set up the night before, but sometimes they are not setup until the morning of class. If for some reason, you are teaching class and the machines are NOT setup for you by 8:30am, you should contact someone from ONLC’s IT team:

[email protected] (Len Niggerman)

[email protected] (Bruce Balough)

[email protected] (Jonathan Manness)

They will answer you within 20 minutes. If for some crazy reason they don’t?, CALL ONLC and ask for them:

1.800.288.8221

Assuming everything is working fine, you will connect first to your student machine and leave it open for class. It looks like a dashboard and shows you all your student machines. To ZOOM in on a student, you just right click their little square and choose “Zoom Remote Screen” from the menu. Then you will see their screen blown up. To close their particular screen, click the “CLOSE” button at top right and you will see all the students squares again.

To get to this student machine:

www.gotomypc.com

Log in: [email protected]

Password: 300Delaware

There will be a listing of ALL computers. I generally type in my first name and initial in the search box with wildcards:

*mjp* - this will bring up your two machines (1 (instructor) – 2- Student machines). Your instructor machine will always be the one labeled with a number 1 and the student machine is always labeled with a number 2. (see picture below):

For the student machine, click connect, then you will see this screen: (the code is 1234abcd for all machines)

Here is what the Instructor 2 machine looks like when you open it:

Notice the ONLC chat window on the left. This is manned all day, every day and if you have connection issues, book issues, phone issues, etc., you can use it to chat with ONLC. It rings a bell at ONLC and whoever handles that area will chat back to you within minutes, telling you how to handle the situation.

The Instructor machine:

The instructor machine connects exactly the same way above (same access code, etc.) Once you open it, it will look like this: (keep in mind, I have already “decorated” mine by opening it up.

#1 – represents your meeting in progress. You can use this button to FREEZE your screen when you want to do things that you don’t want students to see.

#2 – Always put the dial in codes up. You can get this from that document that you opened up in Ann’s email (#1) - #2 is the link you can click to get into the meeting that ONLC will have started for you:

Page 6:  · Web viewNotice the ONLC chat window on the left. This is manned all day, every day and if you have connection issues, book issues, phone issues, etc., you can use it to chat with

#3 – Always give out the email that you wish students to contact you with.

LASTLY, ONLC requires that we use their template for our opening power point screen. You need to update the points in red below. The middle portion is basically anything you want to put in. But you must change the title, picture and call in numbers. A copy of this can be found at www.seesoclear.com/solutions/instructors/

It is called: ONLC WELCOME SLIDE_Revised for Jabra.ppt.

It is also on your INSTRUCTOR 1 machine in thee RCI folder if you ever need it!!!
