1 General Meeting Minutes for Sunday, November 7 th , 2010 ASPIRA came in to talk about THE NO PHONE ZONE PLEDGE. We watched videos and pledges were passed around for people to dedicate themselves to not talking or texting while driving. Luana- Florida Regional Convention in March! Save your money, it is completely worth it! There are Regional Awards for members to participate in. Christina- Regional Awards- Art and Speech contests need cover sheet. It can be found at flptk.org. Please let an Advisor or E-board member know if you plan on participating in these contests. Nota Bene- Submissions due Dec. 3 rd , 2010. Go to Publications on the Delta Omicron blog to find the link for submission. (See bottom of minutes for more information) Member of the Month- September: Jack Reading & October: Gimena Guillen Diane- General Announcements. (See bottom of minutes for more information) Make sure to sign in properly- that your handwriting is legible and your real phone number and email are included- we need to know how to get a hold of you. Also, there is a difference between Phi Theta Kappa events and Palm Beach State events. We have no control over Palm Beach State events. You do need to sign in with Palm Beach State and an officer or either an Assistant Event Coordinator to get credit from us for the event. Light the Night.org to sign up for Light the Night (awareness for Leukemia and Lymphoma) - November 12th. Must preregister. Find the Phi Theta Kappa team and Johanna Poblano as team captain. We need AEC’s for Quantum House. We will be cooking and serving them dinner Nov. 23 rd at 5pm. Bring cans to Christina for credit. Relay for Life Kickoff Party- at 6pm- food and festivities at the Cottage in Downtown Lake Worth. Relay for Life is in April.

Faith- Founder’s Day Ball. I can meet up with you to buy a ticket. Cash only. All chapters of Palm Beach State are attending. This is Phi Theta Kappa’s 92nd anniversary; we will be celebrating it in style. This is a semi-formal with a sit down dinner, music and dance on Friday, November 19th from 7pm to midnight. Do not have to be a member to come. Tickets are $25.
Johanna- Wreath Fundraiser- If you sell one wreath- you get one fundraiser credit. The wreaths will be shipped directly to your house. Please meet me Nov. 18th from 6:15pm to 7pm in the MLK Courtyard so I can collect your orders. I have the catalog orders for you to pick up. Really good wreaths, beautiful- shipping included. You guys are doing a great job fundraising. Keep up the good work. More than 3 boxes gets you $10 to your trips for every box sold.
Millas- Florida Region is about to offer a scholarship for people who will be continuing their AA degree in the coming school year. Feb. 1st is the deadline for next year and Dec. 1st for every year after that. Need at least 24 credit hours and a 3.5 GPA and write an essay. You will be

rewarded at the Regional Convention. I will give you more details as they come up. The amount is unknown as of yet. More information should be available on the Florida Regional website. Be thinking of the Regional Convention- Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is a wonderful time with about 300 to 500 people and it will include workshops, competitions, and forums. Trip is $100.
Bush- If you are graduating this semester and you need a tassel and/or stole to wear during your ceremony, I am selling please see me. $10-tassle; $18 for stole.
Luana- we have a suggestion box, please let us know how you feel- complaint, event idea or complement. We will have our new chapter t-shirts soon. If you are not a new member you will have to pay $10 for a new shirt. The school will be participating in Paint your Heart Out, please contact Chona in office BK107 or [email protected] for more details.
