Year 6 SATs and Summer Tests

May I remind you that Year 6 SATs will take place during the week beginning Monday 9th – 13th May 2016. It is essential that all Year 6 pupils attend school on these dates.

Tests for Years 3, 4 and 5 will commence from the week beginning 17th May 2016.

Tests for Key Stage 1 will take place during May.

We are celebrating National Sports Week with sporting events taking place for all children.

Cycle Training for Year 5 on Monday 6 th June and Tuesday 7 th June

You will hear details regarding this event later.

Kingswood Residential Trip for Year 6 – Wednesday 15 th – Friday 17 th June

Our annual Year 6 residential visit is taking place on Wednesday 15th June to Friday 17th June. We have arranged plenty of adventurous activities for our Year 6 pupils to enjoy!

Sports Day for EY’s, KS1 and KS2

Our Annual Sports Day will be held on Wednesday 22nd June at 10.00am for KS1 and 1.30pm for KS2. In the event of inclement weather, the reserve date will be Thursday 23rd June. Parents are invited to attend this event.

Sports day for EY’s will be held on Tuesday 21st June at 9.30am (Nursery and Reception). Parents are welcome to attend this event.

Skipping Festival for KS1 on Tuesday 21 st June

We have arranged a Skipping Festival for KS1 from 9.00am -11.30am in the school hall. The pupils will need to wear their PE kit for this event.

Hoopstarz Day (Friday 24 th June) for KS1 and Reception Class

We have arranged a Hoopstarz Day on Friday 24th June for Reception and KS1. The children need to attend in their PE kits on this date.

Sports of the World Day for Years 3 and 4- Friday 24 th June (all day)

We have also arranged a “Sports of the World Day” at Charles Thorp on Friday 24th June for Year 3 and 4 pupils. Pupils need to wear their PE kits on this date. You will receive details of this event later.

Sports Day Picnic – Friday 24 th June

The School Council has decided to have an Early Years/KS1/KS2 Picnic on Friday 24th June. The school cooks will prepare an outside picnic (weather permitting!) for this event.

Children can wear sports gear for this event.

It will be an exciting day for all pupils.

Olympic Athlete – Friday 1 st July

We have an Olympic athlete visiting school to do a sponsored event on 1st July. Details regarding this event will follow shortly.

Thank you

Many thanks to all who attended or contributed to our Cake Day on 11th March 2016. A total of £240 was made.

Through partnership with the School we aim to enhance our children’s school experience by organising After School Clubs, events and through funding special projects.

Since Sept 2015 we have contributed £2615 towards the new outdoor seating area and £450 for Xmas books for all the children. We will contribute to year 6 autograph books and leaving event and also plan to give £200 to each class (£2800) for teachers to utilise as they see fit.

Between Sept 2014 and Aug 2015 we gave £500 towards the red kite statue, £2150 for iPads, £378 for Xmas books and £400 for yr 6 autograph books and leaving event.

We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your ongoing support of the Rowlands Gill Primary School PTA.

New Multi-Sports After School ClubMulti sports is a new KS1 club on Thursday nights. This club is a fun introduction to a variety of sports including

tennis, touch rugby, hockey, netball, basketball....the lot. Keep fit, have fun. Thursdays 3.30-4.30pm.

The club has already started this term but if your child would like to enrol we can offer them a place at a discounted price (you would just have to pay for the sessions they attend, not for the whole term). It's a
