Keeping Martial Arts Franchise Free LONG FÊNG MARTIAL & CULTURAL LFMCA May & June 2009 Newsletter So much has happened since our last news letter. We were a triumph in Coventry at the launch of the Chinese exhibition at the Herbert Gallery. We stunned the crowds with our lion dance and I have to thank all of you who took part, especially Kieran, Danny, Lou, Tash and Synayde. Danny and Kieran enjoyed it so much they went back on the Sunday to try their hand at different things and Danny designed and built a dragon using paper a technique called Tesselation and Kieran was complemented on his drumming skills by Jing Li a Chinese musician. We also joined Pingles in celebrating the Olympics, I ended up being interviewed by Coventry & Warwick Radio discussing Chinese Weapons whilst Dan posed for photo’s for many different newspapers. Loads of you turned up for that event, the funniest thing I’ve ever seen was Danny and Kieran racing on Penny Farthing bicycles. So a big thank you to Danny, Kieran, Tash, Nayde, Lou, Jordan, Caitlin, Shawn, Chloe, Jazmin, Steve and Doris (Cheryl). We have a fair few events lined up this summer the first will be in Derbyshire where we have been invited to perform at the festival of dance. This is a really exciting concept and we will start rehearsals during week commencing 7 th June. I would like the dance to be similar to the one we performed at the Herbert Gallery with lots of exciting jumps. This year we need to raise some money to purchase a new lion, our yellow lion (Lau Pei) is looking more than a little jaded and if we are going to perform at national festivals we really need a top notch performance lion. We are also really busy over the summer in terms of bookings at other venues, this summer we will be running a Martial Arts Course twice per week in Warwick, plus Creative Arts in Bedworth. You may only see us once during the week, or maybe twice but we work every day on different projects. You would be surprised where your martial arts could take you. Did you know you can do a degree in Martial Arts in the UK? You can! If you train hard and work through the SUMMER SUN! Volume 2 Issue 2 01/06 2009 Website…… As you know we do very little in terms of advertising, many of you recommend us to people you know and we are always delighted to meet new people. Even so our small club has grown over the past 12 months and our biggest club is now at Warwick. I update our website regularly you can find our newsletters online, so please check out the website for what is happening and let me know if I have made any mistakes or whether I need to put items on because at the end of the day I cannot remember everything. This year we have been running a competition for our junior members, it is based on attendance and work in class. Each month trophies are awarded at the various classes and at the end of the year an annual trophy will be handed to the overall winner and the runner up. So keep up your attendance, keep training hard and watch this space………

DON’T FORGET, if you know you will miss your usual class you are welcome to train at another class that month. Nor do you have to limit yourself to training once per week, it only costs £25 to train more than once per week.
